Summer PDOpportunitiesSummer of 2026
Here are some PD opportunities that are available to you throughout the summer. They are all completely optional! If you decide to participate in any, you can submit your hours to the LPDC for approval to go towards your license renewal. Some have optional grad credit and the Creating Cultures of Thinking has Gifted Hours as well. Please keep in mind that these sessions are for professional growth and CEU credit, so timesheets cannot be submitted.

Thank you for your continued commitment to teaching, learning and leading. I hope that you take time this summer to rest, recharge and enjoy the moments with family and friends! Looking forward to 2026-2027.

Book Study Opportunity with Gifted Contact Hours and Optional Grad Credit

Join this engaging asynchronous book study of Creating Cultures of Thinking by Ron Ritchhart and explore how classroom culture can become a powerful catalyst for student thinking and learning. Hosted through Google Classroom, this flexible professional learning opportunity allows educators to engage with the text, complete reflections, and participate in discussions at their own pace and on their own schedule.

Throughout the course, participants will examine the eight cultural forces that shape learning environments and discover practical strategies for making thinking visible, fostering student agency, and creating classrooms where deep learning thrives. Through chapter readings, reflection questions, and application activities, educators will consider how intentional shifts in routines, language, interactions, time, opportunities, modeling, environment, and expectations can cultivate a sustainable culture of thinking in any educational setting.

This course aligns with Ohio Gifted Professional Development Competencies. Participants who successfully complete all requirements will earn gifted professional development hours.

How it Works:

Book Study Opportunity with Optional Grad Credit

Hello everyone! I have developed an independent book study on Carol Dweck’s "Mindset: The New Psychology of Success" (Updated Edition). You can begin this over the summer and finish it throughout the school year or keep it in mind for next school year.

Whether you are reading this book for the first time or revisiting it, this updated edition is a powerful tool for self-reflection. We will be moving past surface-level clichés and diving into what Dweck calls the "False Growth Mindset"—examining how we can authentically foster resilience in our own teaching practices, grading systems, and classrooms.

How it Works:

The Setup: The study will be through Google Classroom. If you are interested just reach out to me and I will add you to the classroom. For each chapter, you will find a list of 4 or 5 reflection questions geared specifically toward educators.

Your Task: Read each chapter, reflect on and answer the questions, then submit in Classroom.

Contact Hours Awarded: 17.5

Optional Grad Credit: You may purchase one Ashland Grad Credit upon completion of the study. Cost for the Ashland Grad Credit will be $185.

Book Study Opportunity with Optional Grad Credit

If you walk down any hallway in our district right now, it is impossible to miss the incredible diversity of talent on display. Seeing your Top 5 Strengths posted proudly outside your classroom doors has been a fantastic reminder of the unique superpowers each of you brings to our schools every day.

When Dr. Peltz introduced Now, Discover Your Strengths earlier this school year, it sparked a vital conversation about shifting our focus from fixing weaknesses to multiplying our natural talents. This Google Classroom space is designed to take that conversation to the next level.

Instead of just knowing what our strengths are, we are going to dive into how to intentionally leverage them—to maximize student impact, collaborate more effectively with our teams, and protect our own energy and well-being.

How it Works:

The Setup: The study will be through Google Classroom. If you are interested just reach out to me and I will add you to the classroom. For each chapter, you will find a list of reflection questions geared specifically toward educators.
