GCPS welcomes Dr. Alexandra Estrella

Dr. Alexandra Estrella joined the Gwinnett County Board of Education (BOE) at Area Board and Town Hall Meetings in each district at the end of April. Dr. Estrella introduced herself, took questions from the community, and had an opportunity to meet students, staff, and families across Gwinnett before she begins her tenure on July 1. Recordings of the meetings are available on each District Area Board Meeting page, the Board of Education Meeting Archive page, and through the GCPS TV app.

What Families Should Know about Policy JBCF: Supporting Safe, Welcoming Schools for Every Student

At Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS), one of our highest priorities is ensuring that every student feels safe, supported, and ready to learn each day. The Gwinnett County Board of Education recently adopted Policy JBCF called “Response to Federal Immigration Enforcement (Safe Zones)” to help reinforce that commitment. This policy provides clear guidance for schools while continuing to follow federal and state laws.

Redistricting update

In support of our commitment to safe and welcoming schools, GCPS staff are developing options to address school overcrowding and reduce our reliance on temporary classroom trailers for daily instruction. In some GCPS communities, overcrowding may be addressed by reassigning students to nearby schools with available classroom capacity. In other communities, both the use of existing capacity and the construction of new classrooms are needed to address overcrowding. In both situations, staff may recommend adjusting school attendance boundaries to better align enrollment with available capacity. Please visit this link to learn more about school redistricting, the process of adjusting attendance boundaries.
