Bobcats Working Together!
๐ A Message to Our Cielo Vista Families ๐
As we continue through a busy semester, thank to our families for your ongoing support. Together, we are creating meaningful learning experiences and opportunities for our little Bobcats to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. ๐โญ
โ Every school day matters! Regular attendance is important to student success. When students are present each day, they benefit from instruction, collaborative discussions, hands-on learning experiences, and the support needed to continue acadmic growth. For our students in grades 3-5, consistent attendance is especially important as they prepare for upcoming assessments scheduled for October 28th 4th and 5th Math Interim and October 29th 3rd and BIC Math Interim. ๐๐
A special thank you to everyone who has already supported our Fall Festival through donations, volunteering, and contributions. Your generosity and commitment make events like these possible! ๐ We look forward to your continued support as we work together to make this year's Fall Festival a fun, memorable, and successful experience for all of our Bobcat families. ๐๐
Your partnership makes a difference every day, and we are grateful for all you do to support our students and staff. ๐ค๐
๐ Every Student. Every Day. Matters. ๐
We look forward to seeing our students continue to learn, grow, and thrive throughout the semester! ๐๐ซ

๐ Attendance Matters, Bobcat Families! ๐พ
I am committed to helping our little Bobcats succeed every day! ๐Our attendance rate is 96%, and our goal is 97%. When students are here and on time, they don't miss important learning, classroom experiences, and opportunities to learn with their classmates. ๐โจ
๐ Every day counts. Every minute matters. When students attend school regularly and arrive on time, they are better able to participate in instruction, learn with their classmates, build strong academic skills, and stay connected in their learning. Consistent attendance helps students develop positive habits that contribute to long-term success.
โฐ Being on time is just as important as being present. Arriving late can cause students to miss important instruction and disrupt their learning routine. Starting the day on time helps students feel prepared, confident, and ready to learn.
๐ Tutoring has begun! If your child has been selected to participate, I encourage regular attendance. Tutoring provides targeted support to strengthen skills, close learning gaps, build confidence, and help our students achieve academic success. Every tutoring session is targeted to meet students' needs, and consistent attendance is key to their academic growth.
๐ค By working together to ensure students attend school every day, arrive on time, and participate in tutoring will help our little bobcats to succeed.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to your child's education. Together, we can reach our attendance goal and ensure that every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. ๐๐ค

๐ฎ๐พ BOBCATS, LET'S LEVEL UP OUR ATTENDANCE! ๐พ๐ฎ
Dear Bobcat Families,
๐๐ค As we continue through our second nine week period, we want to thank you for your continued support in making attendance a priority! Our Bobcats are working hard to LEVEL UP, and we have some exciting attendance challenges to keep them motivated! ๐ฎ๐
๐๐ Attendance Update โ Let's Bounce Back, Bobcats! ๐พ๐ฎ
Last week, our campus attendance rate was 96.42%, placing Cielo Vista Elementary 7th in the district. ๐
Unfortunately, our attendance dropped this week, moving us from 5th place to 7th place in the district.
While we experienced a slight setback, we know our Bobcats can bounce back! ๐ช๐๐ค Let's continue working together to make daily attendance a priority and ensure our students arrive at school on time, ready to learn.
With your continued support, we know our Bobcats can climb back up the rankings! ๐๐
๐ฅ๐ Potato Head Attendance Challenge!
Our classrooms are already earning pieces for their Potato Heads! ๐คฉ Each classroom is working together to complete its Potato Head by demonstrating great attendance.
The first class to complete its Potato Head will be one step closer to celebrating with a Potato Chip Party! ๐ฅ๐
We can't wait to see which classroom finishes FIRST! ๐
๐๐ Weekly Individual Attendance Rewards!
Students who attend school ALL FIVE DAYS of the week will earn a special reward!
๐ค October 19โ23: Earn a Pajama Day!
๐ October 26โ30: Earn 10 minutes of extra recess!
๐ฎ November 2โ6: Earn 15 minutes of Makerspace/Nintendo Switch time!
โฐ๐ Every Minute Matters!
Being at school every day and arriving on time helps our Bobcats build strong learning habits, stay on track academically, and achieve their goals! ๐
We understand that illnesses and emergencies happen, and students should stay home when they are sick. Thank you for encouraging regular attendance whenever possible!
๐๐ค Together, we can help our Bobcats PRESS START TO LEVEL UP! ๐ฎ๐

Crosswalk Help Needed
๐พ Help Keep Our Bobcats Safe! ๐ธ๐
We are seeking parent volunteers who are interested in becoming certified to assist with our school crosswalk to help ensure the safety of our students during arrival and dismissal.
โจ The more volunteers, the better! While we need at least 3 parents to sign up before Police Services can provide the certification training, we would love to have even more families join to be part of our team.
If you are interested in becoming certified and helping keep our Bobcats safe, please complete the form below! ๐
Once we have at least three interested parents, we will coordinate with Police Services to schedule the training and share the date, time, and additional information with those who signed up. Sign up will close Friday October 30th.
๐พ Together, we can make a difference in keeping our Bobcats safe!
Student ID's
As a friendly reminder, all students are required to wear their student ID badges at all times during the school day.
Please help us by ensuring your child comes to school each day with their ID badge and lanyard.
๐ฒ Replacement Fees:
Student ID Badge: $5.00 if lost or broken.
Lanyard: $3.00 if lost or broken.
Student IDs are an important part of maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for all our Bobcats.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued support in keeping Cielo Vista Elementary safe! ๐๐ค
Identification Requirement for Adults
Anyone entering the building must show an identification at the front door to gain admittance. Please ring the doorbell and hold your ID (e.g., driver's license, state ID, passport) in the front of the camera. The clerk will then verify your ID before unlocking the door for you. 90% Attendance Rule/What it means for the 2026-2027 school year.
El Paso ISD 90% attendance requirement will be in effect for the 2026-27 school year.
Students must attend at least 90% of the school days or class periods in order to receive course credit or a final grade, as required by Texas law.
For Elementary students, missing more than 17 days during a typical school year may affect whether they automatically can earn credit or a final grade.
In middle and high school, attendance is tracked by individual class periods each semester, so repeatedly missing the same class can become an issue even if a student attends school the rest of the day. In middle school, missing a class more than 8 times in the Fall semester or more than 9 times in spring semester will result in loss of credit. In high school as students are on an A/B schedule, missing a class more than 4 times in a semester will result in loss of credit.
If you have any questions or for further information please contact your campus.

Red Ribbon Week: October 26โ30
Next week, we will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week at Cielo Vista Elementary! This year's national theme is "Make A Difference. Be A Hero. Stay Drug Free!" Throughout the week, we will encourage our Bobcats to make healthy choices, stand up to peer pressure, and understand how the decisions they make today can help shape their future.
On Monday, all students will receive a red bracelet as a symbol of their pledge to live drug-free and make healthy choices. Although red ribbons are traditionally worn during Red Ribbon Week, we chose bracelets because they are easier for students to keep on and less likely to get lost. We ask that you please encourage your child to wear their bracelet every day throughout the week as a reminder of their commitment to making safe and healthy choices.
This year, students will also have a special opportunity to create their own theme and design for the 2027 National Red Ribbon Week Campaign! We hope to select student entries to submit to the national contest. Students are welcome to take their designs home and work on them with their families. We encourage you to brainstorm ideas together and help your child create a positive message that could inspire students across the country!
We also encourage families to continue the conversation at home. Talk with your child about making healthy choices, handling peer pressure, saying no to unsafe situations, and identifying trusted adults they can turn to for help. You can even use their red bracelet as a conversation starter by asking, "What does your bracelet remind you to do?"
To learn more about Red Ribbon Week and explore family activities and resources, visit www.redribbon.org.
Thank you for partnering with us to help our Bobcats make healthy choices and build bright, drug-free futures!

๐โจ Dear Families,
As children learn to read, they begin developing an important skill called fluency. ๐๐ Fluency means reading smoothly, accurately, and with expression. When students become fluent readers, they spend less energy figuring out words and can focus more on understanding what they are reading. ๐ง ๐ก
๐๐ One of the best ways to improve fluency is through repeated reading. Encourage your child to revisit favorite books, poems, or passages. Reading the same text several times helps build confidence and accuracy. ๐ชโญ Younger children enjoy hearing familiar stories over and over, while older students can practice reading aloud to family members. ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆโค๏ธ
๐ญ๐ฃ๏ธ While listening to your child read, encourage them to make their voice sound like the characters and pay attention to punctuation marks. โ Questions should sound like questions, and โ exclamation points should show excitement or strong feelings! You can model this by reading aloud and showing how your voice changes throughout the story. ๐ค๐
โฐ๐ Just a few minutes of reading aloud each day can make a BIG difference in helping children become stronger, more confident readers! ๐๐
๐๐ Happy Reading!
~Ms. Armendariz
