Students needing to change a level of a core course should do so by October 9, 2025. Elective changes are not taking place at this time. There is a form that their counselor will give to the student to complete, that includes a teacher and parent signature. The form must be completed before the course can be changed. No course changes will take place during the second nine weeks.

Every Wednesday during Advisory, your student will have the opportunity to watch a video from the Counseling Department that focuses on a specific topic. Some videos will discuss credit and course options, and others will pertain to monthly awareness events. If your student is absent or is unable to watch during the advisory period, the video can be viewed on our TWHS Video Archive website, posted on the TWHS website and here: https://sites.google.com/conroeisd.net/twhs-video-archives/home.

You will be able to select instructional videos about various topics that pertain to you. This event will be posted on the TWHS website. We know there are many options for tutors in our community. However, we strongly encourage your student to build a relationship with their teacher and seek their guidance when they need assistance or clarification. Our teachers are readily available before or after school for tutoring. In many cases, students also utilize peer tutoring through many of our service organizations. In addition, evening tutorials are available at the Senior Campus. Our staff is always here to help answer questions and address concerns. We also provide a list of tutors, some current or former teachers, on our website. You can also find it here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1s-LtJ3--mV1KL8CV9OlvKXZKw0sWq3_qau_id5WjWxw/edit

The record round included scores from Aleah Shields-Rodipe (Fr) 71, Vivian Tran (Jr) 68, Payson Pistono (Jr) 66, and Joann Bee (So) 64. Joanne Bee won the individual title with scores of 70-64-70....Impressive start to the 2025-2026 for Joann and all the young Highlanders. Our 2nd team played well and finished in the middle of the pack of 30 strong teams and earned a 3rd place in the consolation bracket. Ellie Hill's strong 80-82-76 led the way.

FINE ARTS FINE ARTS

THE WOODLANDS HIGH SCHOOL ART TRUST

Submissions for 2025 are now OPEN! Please pass this on to Texas Artists!

Have you ever noticed the 71 works of art by established Texas artists that are permanently displayed in the hallways at school? This is The Woodlands High School Art Trust Collection and we are celebrating our 15th year! This collection of art works has been selected and purchased by our students over the past 14 years. Each year we add new works to the collection and our next selection process has begun. Submissions will be accepted until October 5th for consideration into our collection for 2025. We invite established Texas artists who have had work accepted into a juried show and are at least 22 years old to submit works to be considered for acquisition in 2025. If you know an established Texas Artist that might be interested, please pass this information to learn more. https://twhsat.weebly.com/2025-submissions.html

In mid-October, our student committee will narrow down the works submitted to 12-15 artworks that will be voted on by the entire student body in mid-November. Posters of the artworks will be on view at school in November and the original pieces will be displayed in the cafeteria just prior to voting. The students will purchase as many as possible of the pieces that receive the most votes on November 13.

The artworks are purchased through funds set aside by Student Council from the Homecoming Dance, however, the framing, lighting and conservation of these pieces need funding. Consider helping with that funding and show your support for The Woodlands High School Art Trust by joining our "One Hundred Friends of Art." Our goal is to have 100 arts supporters make an annual donation to support our cause. Donations are tax deductible and start as low as $10!! Visit our website to make a contribution: https://twhsat.weebly.com/

The Woodlands High School Art Trust (TWHSAT) a 501(c)3 organization, was established in 2011 to help maintain, conserve and display the student-selected, student-purchased collection of established artists at The Woodlands High School. The vision for the TWHS Art Trust is to see the art collection grow each year and to have it extend through the hallways of the high school. We also offer FREE tours of our collection to schools and other groups by appointment.

Other than the public sculptures around The Woodlands, this is the ONLY permanent collection of art available to the public. It is seen by THOUSANDS of people every day. Please consider supporting this unique collection that sets us apart from other public high schools and strengthens our goal of being one of the best high schools in the state and country.

For more information on The Woodlands High School Art Trust please visit our website: https://twhsat.weebly.com/ or contact Susan Cosculluela at twhsat@gmail.com.

CLINIC NOTES CLINIC NOTES

VACCINES: If you have received a letter or email from the clinic notifying you that your student has overdue vaccines or an expired Conscientious Objector exemption, please take care of it as soon as possible so they may remain enrolled. We will be completing our state vaccine report soon, and cannot allow students who are out of compliance to remain enrolled.

VISION And HEARING: We are in the process of conducting state-required vision and hearing screenings on all students who were not enrolled in Conroe ISD in the 7th grade. If your child does not pass our screening, a referral will be sent home. We ask that you take them to their doctor and return the signed referral so that we can mark it as complete. We only screen for distance vision, so if your child is having trouble seeing up close, we highly recommend an annual appointment with an eye care provider. Children’s vision can change rapidly during puberty, and we want them to be safe on the road!

ATTENTION PARENTS OF SENIORS: You may not be aware that colleges and universities require a second dose of the MCV4 (meningitis) vaccine, received on or after a child’s 16th birthday. There is also an optional Meningitis B vaccine that is available to protect children against additional strains of the meningococcal bacteria. Please discuss that with their pediatrician. If you need a copy of your child’s vaccine record to take to their physician, you can request it by emailing Mrs. Ansley at aransley@conroeisd.net with your child’s name.

MEDICATIONS AT SCHOOL: Parents or guardians are welcome to check in over the counter (OTC) medications to be kept in the clinic and administered by the clinic staff. We ask that medication be unexpired, in its original container, and no more than a 30-day supply (No Costco-sized containers). We are also only allowed to give the medication according to the directions on the container, unless it is accompanied by a doctor’s note.

ILL STUDENTS: We are starting to see many students with illness at school. Please discuss with your child the importance of good handwashing, avoiding touching their face, not eating or drinking after each other, getting a good night’s rest, and drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Eating something with protein in the morning can also be a huge help in preventing headaches and stomachaches and being successful at school.

Please keep all sick students at home until they are fever-free (below 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit) for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications, and have overall improving symptoms. Students who are experiencing diarrhea or vomiting should also remain at home. We have many medically fragile students and staff members, and need our whole school community’s help to avoid spreading illness at school.

SMART TAG ID REPLACEMENT: If your student has lost their school ID, they may purchase a new one through School Cash Online. This item is available to all students under Smart Tag ID Replacement Fee.

WELCOME CENTER: We would like to inform you that the Welcome Center, led by Iytzia Cárdenas, has now been relocated to the Jett Center. However, she continues to visit our campus some days a week, mainly when she has scheduled appointments with families.

🧭 Her Mission: Guiding Families Through a New educational System - If you come across a family who may benefit from a one-on-one meeting with Iytzia to better understand and navigate the school system, please don’t hesitate to refer them.

Iytzia is committed to:

  • Providing clear guidance and support

  • Helping families gradually access the information they need

  • Ensuring they do not feel overwhelmed or lost

🌍 More Than Just a Language Barrier - We often assume the challenge is only about learning a new language—but in reality, it’s much deeper. Families arriving from other countries experience:

  • Culture shock

  • Grief and loss from leaving their home country, family , friends , etc.

  • A complete shift in norms and expectations

All of this can create confusion and uncertainty as they try to adjust. That’s where cultural and emotional support becomes essential.

👩‍🏫 Iytzia’s Ongoing Impact - With over 12 years of experience on this campus, Iytzia has played a key role in building strong connections with our families. Due to the growing importance of her work, her role has now been centralized, and she now serves all district schools through the Jett Center. She identifies newly arrived families and reaches out directly—or sometimes is referred by teachers like you.

📌 How You Can Help - If you notice a student or family who seems to be struggling with adjustment, please:

  • Reach out to Iytzia ( 281-220-9527) icardenas@conroeisd.net.

  • Share any relevant information.

  • Encourage families to connect with her.

Even a small gesture can make a huge difference in helping families feel seen, understood, and supported.

Thank you for being a vital part of this support network. Together, we can continue creating a welcoming and inclusive school environment for everyone.
