Spring Conferences
We are looking forward to many events during the month of March but none more than the opportunity to connect with families during the Spring Arena Conferencing on March 20 from 3:30-6:30.
Important Details
Arena Conferencing:
In an arena conference model, each teacher is available to meet with you for up to five minutes to discuss your student’s academic progress, classroom performance and any quick questions that you may have. It is called arena conferencing because teachers are arranged in a curricular pattern in the main areas of our school; the Commons/Auxiliary Gym and the Main Gym.
Due to the shorter duration of Spring conferences, we encourage you to prioritize meeting with teachers in subjects where you have concerns about your student’s progress.
Locations:
Main Gym: 6th Grade Core Teachers & PE Teachers
Commons & Auxiliary Gym: 7th & 8th Grade Core Teachers, Band, Choir, CTE, Drama & Leadership
Conference Structure:
We ask that parents/guardians limit each conference with each teacher to 5 minutes or less.
Students are welcome to attend arena conferencing but are not required to attend.
Time Schedule:
Parents come in and meet with teachers in a first-come, first-serve fashion. To reduce potential long lines, we are recommending families attend at a specified time. Parents do not need to sign up for a conference time.
Recommended Arena Conference Time By Student Last Name
In an attempt to reduce long lines, we are asking families to attend the Arena Conference at the designated times on this chart based on your student’s last name.
Of course, if you have children with multiple names OR if you are not able to attend during your recommended scheduled time, you are welcome to attend at a different time.
We will ask that parents arrive no later than 6:00pm as our arena conference will end promptly at 6:30.
Spring Sports Dates
The Spring sports season is upon us!
Here are the start dates and times for each sport:

Perfumes, Colognes, and Scented Products
There are many people who experience unpleasant physical effects from scented products and a growing number of people who suffer more severe reactions to these types of products and chemicals.
Some people may report mild irritation while others are incapacitated and/or must give up many 'normal' activities in order to avoid exposure (such as going to public places).
We are asking students and staff to refrain from wearing strongly scented products to help others who suffer from sensitivities. Please remind your students that they should not spray or use scented products in the building.

Family Preview for Health Curriculum Spring 2024
Parent Review Night
Washington State law requires that every student receives HIV/AIDs prevention education in grades 5 through 12. Because this unit covers sensitive topics, Washington State law and SBLSD board policy require that parents/families are provided the opportunity to preview these lessons.
The Sumner-Bonney Lake School District (SBLSD) is hosting a curriculum night for families to preview the HIV/AIDS prevention curriculum for students enrolled in the following:
6th and 7th grade students (HIV/AIDS),
2nd semester 8th grade Skills for Life (HIV/AIDS) and
9th grade Health classes (Health content), and
Applicable 10th through 12th grade classes (HIV/AIDS).
The Curriculum will be available for preview. This is an opportunity for parents and guardians to understand the health content for grades 6-12, preview teaching materials and ask questions about the resources used in the classroom.
