Principal's Message Principal's Message

Thank you again to our school community for all the support and hard work you are all doing to help our Grizzlies along in the academic pursuits. Whether it is reading daily at home (English or French) with your child, or coming into the school to support teachers and students, attending School Council, or attending our school events, we want you to know just how valuable your support is to us all! Thank you!

Just a few reminders for some upcoming events:

Parent Teacher Interviews

We will be hosting Parent Teacher Interviews for our PALS, Quest, and Kindergarten to Gr. 6 French Immersion families on Monday, Dec. 1 and Wednesday, Dec. 3. For our students with an Individual Success Plans, we will have those ready by the end of November as well. To sign up for an interview time, you will receive an email on Monday, Nov. 24. The bookings will then be open until Friday, Nov. 28. we are trying to arrange a book fair for the event, but with the time constraints, we may not be able to do so. We will keep you updated as we know more.

GRIZZmas Caroling!

Mark your calendars! This year, we are inviting our families to join our students for an afternoon of GRIZZmas Caroling in our gym. The songs will all be familiar Christmas carols. During the caroling each class will have a chance to be featured by leading us in a carol. Parents and families, join us, if you can, and help us to fill our school with cheer!

Our caroling schedule is as follows:

  • Grades 3 to 6 will carol on Tuesday, Dec. 9 from 1:15 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • KE, KA and grades 1 and 2 will carol on Thursday, Dec. 11 from 1:15 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

We wish everyone a great week!

2025-26 student assessment updates

In managing the necessary shift in learning following the labour disruption, the following changes in student assessments and supports have been made for the 2025-26 school year:

· For elementary and junior high schools, there will be only two report cards—to be issued January 28 and June 23.

· Parent-Teacher-Student interviews will take place December 1 and December 3.
· All common exams for grades 7, 8, 10 and 11 are cancelled for semester 1.
· Kindergarten developmental screeners will be issued twice this year—in mid-December and again in June.
· For students with an Instructional Support Plan, schools will be reaching out in late-November or early-December (rather than earlier in November) to finalize these plans for the year.

On October 31, Alberta Education and Childcare cancelled the January 2026 diploma examinations and Grade 9 Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs). Students may opt to write January diploma exams in April or June 2026, on a voluntary basis.

MUD KITCHEN SUPPLIES:

Have you seen our special courtyard? A few years ago we installed a "mud kitchen" for the students. It has proven to be a very popular play spot ever since. But it requires a steady flow of kitchen supplies and materials to keep the creative chefs in business.

All year long we accept donations of your unwanted tools and organic materials for creative play. SMALL pots and pans, kitchen utensils, leaves, small wood off cuts, sunflower heads, etc.

No glass, sharp, or pointed objects please. Drop off your donations at the office and Assistant Principal Shelley Boswell will take care of getting it out to the courtyard as needed.

The students are grateful for your support in their creative play endeavors.

All fees are due within 30 days of being posted. Division Code of Conduct

EIPS has three administrative procedures (APs) that address the Division’s code of conduct:

· AP 311: Welcoming, Caring, Respectful and Safe Learning Environments for Students

· AP 350: Student Code of Conduct

· AP 351: Student Conduct on School Buses

The Division, and École Parc Élémentaire, are committed to ensuring all members of the school community are provided with welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environments that respect diversity and foster a sense of belonging. EIPS encourages all students, staff and families to review the procedures to understand and practice the conduct expected throughout the Division.

Video surveillance at schools and on buses

Did you know each EIPS bus is equipped with video surveillance, and many school sites have video monitoring equipment?

Video surveillance and equipment help:

· ensure the safety of all students, staff, drivers and property; and

· discourage destructive acts.

As needed, EIPS school administration and Student Transportation staff review video recordings, in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act. The recordings assist schools and the Division with monitoring student and driver conduct and may be used as evidence in a disciplinary matter.

For more information about the collection, use and disclosure of personal information, contact the EIPS FOIP Co-ordinator at 780-464-3477.
