Dear LPS Families,

As we come to the end of the school year, we also come to the end of Legal Public School’s final chapter. This is not an easy thing to write because schools are more than buildings, classrooms, and schedules. Schools hold stories. They hold relationships, memories, challenges, growth, and connection.

Over the past four years, Legal Public School has become a place where people care deeply. It was a small school, but so much was built within it. Staff, students, families, and community partners came together to create a school community centred on belonging, creativity, flexibility, and care.

I want to take a moment to recognize Mrs. Davis and the important role she has played in the day-to-day life of LPS. In a small school, leadership looks different. It is hands-on, responsive, and often requires stepping into whatever role is needed in the moment. Mrs. Davis has done that with steadiness, compassion, and commitment. She has supported students, families, and staff in countless ways, and her presence has helped hold the school community through both the ordinary days and the difficult ones.

I also want to recognize the staff of Legal Public School. In a small school, everyone does more than what is written in a job description. Staff members have planned, problem-solved, supervised, supported, encouraged, adjusted, and cared for students in so many ways. They have embraced project-based learning, tried new ideas, and continued to show up for students with heart.

A special thank you goes to Mrs. Ozipko, who took on something most teachers will never experience in their careers: teaching a Grade 1-6 classroom. That is an incredible responsibility. It requires thoughtful planning, flexibility, creativity, patience, and a deep understanding of each learner. Mrs. Ozipko approached this work with dedication and care, and I am very grateful for all she has given her students and LPS this year.

There is grief in closing a school. That grief is real because Legal Public School has mattered to the people who have learned, worked, and gathered here. At the same time, there is also pride. Pride in what was built. Pride in the relationships that were formed. Pride in the way staff and families worked together. Pride in the students, who brought life, energy, and joy into the school each day.

Legal Public School will always be part of Sturgeon’s story. It will be remembered for its innovation, relationships, courage, and community. Thank you to every staff member, student, family, and community partner who helped shape LPS over the past four years.

What was created here mattered, and it will continue to matter long after this chapter closes.

With gratitude,

Louise Loh, Principal

Vice Principal's Message Vice Principal's Message

Dear LPS Families, Students, and Staff,

As I sit down to write this final newsletter, I find myself struggling to put into words just how much Legal Public School has meant to me.

LPS was the first school where I had the privilege of serving as a leader. When I first stepped into this role, I never could have imagined the journey that lay ahead. This school, its students, families, and staff, have helped shape me into the administrator I am today. You taught me how to lead in a way I never thought I could. Together, we navigated challenges, celebrated successes, and built a school community that I will carry with me forever.

To our students, thank you for bringing joy, laughter, curiosity, and heart into our building every single day. You reminded me why this work matters. Watching you learn, grow, support one another, and discover who you are has been one of the greatest privileges of my career.

To our families, thank you for your trust, partnership, and support. Schools are strongest when families and staff work together, and I am so grateful for the relationships we have built over the last two years.

To the incredible staff of LPS, I simply could not have done this without you. Thank you for your unwavering support, your dedication to our students, and your commitment to one another. On the difficult days, your sense of humour helped carry us through. On the busy days, your encouragement made the load lighter. Every day, your passion and care made Legal Public School a special place to be. The connections we have built will remain long after we say our goodbyes.

I would also like to extend a special thank you to Ms. Loh. Ms. Loh, thank you for seeing potential in me that I could not yet see in myself. Nearly three years ago, you gave me an opportunity that changed the course of my career. You challenged me, encouraged me, and helped me grow into this role. Your mentorship has been invaluable, and I will always be grateful for your guidance and belief in me.

While this chapter is coming to an end, the memories, lessons, friendships, and experiences will stay with me forever. Legal Public School will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for allowing me to be part of this incredible community.

With gratitude,

Angela Davis, Vice Principal

Connected Moments: Building Strong Kids in Small Ways Connected Moments: Building Strong Kids in Small Ways

At school, we focus on helping students build the skills they need to manage emotions, solve problems, and build positive relationships. Across the division, our Unplugged approach encourages small, intentional moments of connection throughout the day. These same simple strategies at home can help create consistency for children and support their growth in confidence, independence, and resilience.

Connected Moment

Not every challenge needs an adult solution.

Try This at Home

  • Resist the urge to immediately fix the problem

  • Encourage your child to think through possible solutions

  • Support the process without taking over

Why This Matters

Children grow when they learn that frustration, mistakes, and setbacks are a normal part of learning. At school, we help students build the skills to manage challenges, regulate emotions, take responsibility, and work toward solutions independently. Providing these same opportunities at home helps children develop resilience, confidence, and the ability to navigate challenges with greater independence both now and in the future.
