Focus on Strength

Below is the message I shared with our students on Friday morning:

Isn't it fun to do the things you love to do? When you do the things you love to do more often you get better at them! So, if you love to read-- read more books! If you love to play football or volleyball-- you should play more football or volleyball. Spend your time doing what you love and what you are good at and you will get better and better!

FOLLOW YOUR PASSIONS

We watched the video below at our assembly on Thursday. It's important for our students to understand that it takes a lot of practice to achieve your dreams and make your passions become a reality!

WEEKLY RECAP

We had a great first week of October! We started our new mindset-- "Passion First" and had a mini assembly on Thursday to get the month kicked off with Passion and enthusiasm!

It was fun catching up with students after their long weekends! They bring so much energy and joy to our lives and hearing about their stories from over the weekend was a blast.

It was also interesting to catch up with a few teachers who used their day on Monday to travel to different school districts to learn about different ways of doing things. We had teachers travel to the Mount Vernon and Tea School districts. They brought back lots of ideas and new perspectives of how things can be done. It was interesting to connect and reflect with everyone about what they learned from their day on Monday!

In the classroom this week, students learned about a variety of things, but I observed a new Math game that a fourth grade teacher discovered that the students really seemed to enjoy. I watched as second graders practiced and learned about the plural form of words using a JENGA tower-- it was fun to see their collaboration as they worked through a variety of words. In PE students are getting ready for the mile run, and this week practiced by running a half mile. The students were tired, but I think a couple of them might be excited to see what they can run a mile in. It's a long ways to run for an elementary student, but they are doing well with the challenge.
