November 2026 Edition

Dear LES Families,

As we move further into fall, I hope all of our families enjoyed a safe and fun Halloween filled with more treats than tricks! It is hard to believe how quickly the school year is moving along. As we look ahead, I want to take a moment to reflect on what makes Lansing Elementary such a special place.

Our theme for this school year is Mission Possible! This theme represents our belief that every child has incredible potential and that, working together, we can help every student experience success academically, socially, and emotionally. Every day, our staff is committed to making that mission a reality for each student who walks through our doors.

As we continue our journey this school year, we remain focused on three important pillars that guide our work:

  • A Culture of Belonging: Creating a school where every student feels welcomed, valued, supported, and connected.

  • Intentional Instruction: Providing meaningful learning experiences that challenge, engage, and meet the individual needs of our students.

  • Communication and Clarity: Building strong relationships through open communication, shared expectations, and a commitment to working together.

I also want to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation to our parents and families. Your support and involvement have been evident throughout the year. Whether you have volunteered for field trips, cheered on our students during Fun Runs, participated in classroom activities and parties, or taken the time to attend parent-teacher conferences, (91% participation this fall) your partnership makes a tremendous difference.

These moments may look different, but they all represent something incredibly important: the power of collaboration between home and school. When families and educators work together, our students benefit, our school grows stronger, and our community becomes something truly special.

As we move into the colder months, please make sure your children come to school dressed appropriately for outside recess. We will continue to provide full outdoor recess when the air temperature is 32 degrees or above. Having warm coats, hats, and gloves available will help ensure our students are comfortable and ready to enjoy their time outside.

Thank you for trusting us with your children, supporting our staff, and continuing to be such an important part of the Lansing Elementary family. We are fortunate to have a community that embraces our mission and understands that student success is a team effort.

Together, we will continue to make the impossible possible!

With Lion Pride,

Chad Eshbaugh
Principal
Lansing Elementary School

LES Arrival/Dismissal

Helping Every Lion Start and End the Day Safely

At Lansing Elementary School, the safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. With a large number of students arriving and departing each day, we appreciate your partnership in following these procedures to create a safe, organized, and efficient experience for all students and families.

Our goal is simple: ensure every Lansing Lion arrives and leaves school safely each day. By establishing consistent routines, following traffic procedures, and working together, we can provide a positive start and finish to every student’s day.

Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and partnership as we begin the school year and establish these important routines.

Morning Arrival Procedures

  • Morning Supervision Begins at 8:00 a.m. w/exception of Thursday Late Starts: Please do not drop your child off before this time (Early Childhood 7:55, KinderBoost 8:55), as students will not have access to the building and will not be supervised by LES staff.
  • Use Your Student’s Designated Drop-Off Area: Drop-off locations are specific to each grade level and are clearly identified with signage throughout the parking lot. Please pay close attention to the LES parking lot map and follow the designated route for your child’s grade level. Using the correct drop-off area helps reduce congestion and allows students to enter the building safely and efficiently.
  • Families with Multiple Students: For families with students in multiple grade levels, please drop off all students at the designated location for your youngest student. This provides consistency for your family and helps maintain an organized and efficient traffic flow throughout the parking lot.
  • Follow the Established Traffic Pattern: Please follow the traffic routes outlined on the parking lot map and follow directions from LES staff members supervising arrival. These procedures are designed to keep vehicles moving safely and efficiently.
  • Remain in Your Vehicle: To maintain a safe and efficient traffic flow, please do not exit your vehicle to walk your child to the building. With a large student population at LES, keeping traffic moving is essential. Staff members will be available each morning to assist students as they safely transition from vehicles to the sidewalk.
  • Students Exit on the Passenger Side: Whenever possible, students should exit vehicles on the passenger side closest to the sidewalk. This helps reduce movement through traffic and provides a safer transition into the building.
  • Pull Forward in the Drop-Off Line: Please pull forward as directed before allowing your child to exit the vehicle. Maximizing the available space helps keep the line moving and reduces wait times for all families.
  • Follow Staff Directions: Staff members are positioned throughout the arrival area to support student safety and maintain an organized process. Please follow their guidance and directions at all times.

Afternoon Dismissal Procedures

  • K–3 Dismissal Begins at 3:25 p.m.: Please do not arrive before 2:55 p.m. to pick up your child. Early arrival creates additional congestion and impacts the efficiency of our dismissal process.
  • Early Childhood Dismissal Begins at 2:55
  • KinderBoost Dismissal Begins at 1:55
  • Use Your Student’s Designated Pick-Up Area: Pick-up locations are specific to grade levels and are designated with signage throughout the parking lot. Please refer to the LES parking lot map for the correct route and location for your child’s dismissal area.
  • Families with Multiple Students: For families with students in multiple grade levels, please pick up all students at the designated location for your youngest student. This allows families to have one consistent pick-up location and helps our staff safely and efficiently manage dismissal procedures.
  • Remain in Your Vehicle During Pick-Up: Please remain in your vehicle while waiting in the car rider line. Staff members will assist students as they safely transition from the sidewalk to their vehicle.
  • Use Caution When Merging: Please be cautious and utilize your mirrors when merging into the traffic pattern. Taking time to check your surroundings helps protect students, families, and staff while allowing traffic to move smoothly.
  • Right Turn Only When Exiting the Parking Lot: All vehicles exiting the Lansing Elementary School parking lot must make a right-hand turn onto Bittersweet Road. Left turns onto Bittersweet Road are not permitted, as they cause traffic to back up within the parking lot and delay the dismissal process for all families.
  • Pull Forward as Directed: Please pull forward as far as possible in the car rider line before your child enters your vehicle. This allows us to maximize space and keep traffic moving efficiently.
  • Follow Staff Directions and Traffic Patterns: Staff members are present throughout dismissal to assist families and maintain a safe process. Please follow their directions and the designated traffic flow at all times.

Safety Reminders for All Families

  • Drive Slowly and Stay Alert: Our parking lot is a busy place with students, families, buses, and staff members moving throughout the area. Please remain patient, attentive, and cautious while driving on school property.
  • Keep Fire Lanes and Bus Areas Clear: Fire lanes and bus zones must remain open at all times to provide access for emergency vehicles and school transportation.
  • Use Designated Crosswalks: Families walking to and from school should use designated crossing areas and follow the directions of crossing guards and staff members.
  • Building Access and Visitor Check-In: For the safety and security of all students and staff, all adults entering the building are required to check in through the front office. Please have a valid photo ID available when arriving at school. This process allows us to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone at Lansing Elementary School.
  • Avoid Parking Lot Congestion: Please do not stop for extended periods of time within the traffic flow. Keeping vehicles moving helps all families get through arrival and dismissal safely and efficiently. Early Childhood students will be dropped off and dismissed prior to Kindergarten. Please do not park in drop off zones as this will impede our flow for both E.C. and Kindergarten.
  • Remain Calm and Courteous: Please remain calm, patient, and courteous with our staff and students throughout the arrival and dismissal process. Our team will be working diligently each day to provide a safe, organized, and efficient experience for every family. Your cooperation and positive partnership help us create a welcoming environment for all Lansing Lions.

Thank you for your partnership in making Lansing Elementary School a safe, welcoming, and organized place for every student. Arrival and dismissal are important parts of the school day, and your cooperation makes a significant difference.

Our procedures are designed with one goal in mind: Every Lansing Lion arrives and leaves school safely each day. By following our routines, using designated areas, and supporting one another, we create a positive experience for students, families, and staff. Together, We Make Arrival & Dismissal Mission Possible!
