STEM (Mr.Long)
In Engineering class, we finished up our testing sails experiment right when we came back from break. Students tried multiple sail designs on our original fishing wire track, and then redesigned their sails based on the initial results on a 12 foot track that utilizes a magnetically levitating chassis. Here's a picture of the fastest sails we tested- congratulations to Josie LeBlanc who had not one, but three designs make it to the final round of testing. We are excited for our next cross-curricular projects where students will be creating models of important inventions and structures from the Middle Eras in history.
Science (Ms.Wurth and Mrs.Goodson)
We are back from break and starting our second science unit of the year... Genetics!
Students will be learning about traits, heredity and Punnett Squares this week. In Ms.Wurth's class students learned about genotypes and phenotypes by creating a variety of different faces with randomized features.
If you are wondering how your student did on their first science unit, please head to Infinite Campus and check their summative grades! All grades are up to date!
Math (Mr.Cote and Mr.Petit)
In math class we finished our Simplifying Algebraic Expressions unit in December and have started our next unit on Solving Equations. We have been working on solving one step equations with whole numbers, negatives, fractions and decimals using all 4 operations. Next week we will be moving on to solving two step equations.
Social Studies (Mr.Arsenault and Mr.Tellier)
7th grade social studies students completed their first writing prompt of the year. The topic was the American Revolution. We also covered the most impactful battles of the revolution through a hands-on, station-based activity. We are now covering the post-revolution government. This includes the Articles of Confederation, Shays Rebellion, the Constitutional Convention, and more!
Academic Showcase
Our Multicultural Academic Showcase will take place on Wednesday, March 18, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
7th Grade has the theme of countries participating in the Winter Olympics! We have a ton of exciting activities and showcases planned! We hope that you can join us on this night to see your students hard work :)
