Hello SKS !

Lent is here, and for many of us, that means the annual question: What are you giving up? But what if this Lent wasn’t just about giving something up—but about doing something more? As a family, here are some ways to make this season meaningful:

1. 💙Love More. Find ways to love each other better. Maybe it’s through small acts of kindness, like leaving a sweet note in a lunchbox or making an effort to put down the phone and really listen. Maybe it’s choosing patience when things get chaotic. Love grows when we choose to nurture it.

2. 🙏Pray More. Lent is the perfect time to strengthen your family’s prayer life. Try saying a special prayer together at the end of each day—maybe a simple “Thank You, God” for blessings received or a decade of the Rosary. If you don’t usually pray before meals, start now. Prayer connects us to God and to each other.

3. 🫶Give More. Lent is a time for almsgiving—not just giving money, but giving of ourselves. As a family, find a way to serve. Maybe it’s making care packages for those in need, writing letters to homebound parishioners, or donating toys or clothes. Giving doesn’t have to be big; it just has to come from the heart.

4. 🔥Become More. God has given each of us unique gifts and talents—this Lent, focus on how you can use yours to grow closer to Him. If you love music, sing or play an instrument as a way to worship. If you enjoy writing, start a gratitude journal or write prayers to God. If you have a heart for helping others, find ways to serve in your community. Whatever your talent may be, use it to glorify God and bring joy to those around you.

Lent isn’t just about sacrifice—it’s about transformation. It’s about becoming the people God created us to be. So this season, don’t just give something up. Do something more. Love more. Pray more. Give more. Become More. And watch how, as a family, you grow closer to God and to each other.

Via Zoom

Presenter: Rebecca Sitman, Teaching and Learning Specialist

In today’s fast-paced, high-pressure, and competitive environment, children often struggle with

self-identity and confidence, especially when comparing themselves to their peers. Social media

further amplifies these comparisons, leading to self-doubt and critical self-evaluation. This

workshop will explore the barriers that contribute to diminishing confidence in children and

provide practical strategies to help parents foster self-esteem and resilience. Together, we will

discuss ways to support children in recognizing their worth, embracing their strengths, and

navigating challenges with confidence.
