Welcome To Week 18!

Dear Brahma Family,

Week 18! The last week of first semester. Finals Week!

Finals Week kicks off with zero period final exams—first thing Monday morning. If you're not enrolled in a zero period class, there's no need to show up at school until 10:40 a.m. for your third period final. If you arrive earlier, you can study or relax in the amphitheater, and there will be Brunch at 10:30 a.m. If you plan to arrive at school just before the third period final begins, keep in mind that, similar to a Late Start Day, there may be many students waiting until the last minute to get to school. To avoid the risk of being late for your final exam, leave a bit earlier than you think is necessary and enjoy a snack during Brunch.

This will also be the case on Tuesday and Wednesday, with everyone arriving at school at 8:30 a.m. for first and fourth period finals. Additionally, it may rain this week, which is one more reason to give yourself a little extra time to get to school.

If you are a parent who didn’t go to DBHS, you may have looked at one of our yearbooks and thought, “Wow, this doesn’t look like my high school yearbook!” I have always been blown away by the quality of the Taurus (DBHS’s yearbook), and that quality has not gone unnoticed. Congratulations to the yearbook staff and their teacher and advisor, Mrs. Tenace, as the 2023 Taurus has been named a Crown Award finalist. This prestigious award is the highest honor a yearbook can receive. The Columbia Scholastic Press Association announced the finalists last Friday, and in March we’ll find out if we receive a Silver or Gold Crown Award. We are fortunate to have such a hard-working and creative staff preserving our shared experiences and commemorating our time together.

Good luck on your final exams!! Finish strong and Reveal Your Greatness!

I hope everyone has a fantastic week and a wonderful winter break!

Sincerely,

David Hong
