Trunk Or Treat Event

PTO will help bring activities, events, fundraisers and community involvement to Powell.

Exciting news! Our Trunk or Treat on Tuesday 10/31/23 has been upgraded to a Fall Festival. We will still have decorated trunks from some of our Powell families, but our Powell teachers and Wrap staff will also be participating! Students will enjoy Trick or Treating around the central courtyard, play and create with fun activities, and join in the costume parade. Our event will start at 4:00. Students must leave campus and be accompanied by an adult to participate in this event. WRAP and CDC students will attend with their staff. We can’t wait to see all of our students and families in their fun costumes! Costumes must be appropriate for school with nothing depicting violence/weapons/inappropriate. Student may dress in costume during the school day (no masks or head coverings during school).

We are asking for donations of candy be handed out during the event. If you can help, please send in candy to the teacher by October 27th. Let’s work together to make this a memorable event for our Powell Community.

Family Literacy: Hispanic Heritage Month Family Literacy: Hispanic Heritage Month

There are many ways to celebrate and honor diversity. Building cultural literacy helps our students become ethical decision makers in our diverse world. Dia de Los Muertos is an important celebration in the Latinx community. All families are invited to learn about this celebration and create an "Ofrenda" to honor the memory of a loved one who has passed. Participating families can drop off an ofrenda starting October 30, to be displayed at our school. Also, the city of Long Beach is presenting a cultural event you may want to attend on November 4,

Jackie and Shadow, the Eagles of Big Bear, have visited their nest nearly every day for the last week. Their long summer hiatus around the lake without nest visits lasted almost 2 full months. Check out the live cam and you might hear them "chortling" back and forth to each other. They are stepping up their nest visits and making their nest stronger with each addition.
