March Champions of the Charter
March’s Champions of the Charter were recently chosen by the staff at Central School. This month, these students went above and beyond to practice and help others to feel POSITIVE, SAFE and CALM here at Central School. The champions will have a special lunch on April 2, and be recognized at the board meeting on April 16. We are very proud of the great example they set for their fellow students. Congratulations to: Susie A., Talyn B., Emma B., Levi D., Annabelle F., Amaya H., Elaina K., Emmett K., Joey K., MaKenna L., Makenna M., Kennedee N., Lucia P., Zander S., Kylinn W.
Project Unify Needs Your Plastic Bags!
Mrs. Hodgson's class and Project Unify are collecting plastic to recycle to have a bench made for our garden at Central. We are looking for plastic bags and wrappings. Please do not send plastic bottles. All plastic needs to be clean and free of food/organic materials.
Camp Invention
There is still time to sign up for Camp Invention! Camp Invention is a STEM camp for kids entering grades 2-6. This year's theme is Illuminate. Campers will have the opportunity to build their own light-up game board, make a one-of-a-kind glow box, design and engineer solutions to help solve water challenges around the world, and become contestants on a game show to mold, shape, and transform their new ideas into prototypes. Camp Invention 2024 takes place June 3-7 at Central Intermediate School. Use the following link to register and learn more about this year's Camp Invention program. Use the promo code FUN24 for $25 off (ends March 27).
Team LEAD Presents Our Faculty Showcase
Team LEAD, along with their supervisors Mrs. Knott and Mrs. Smith, organized and MC'd our Faculty Showcase on March 22. Team LEAD students were responsible for interviewing all of the acts and introducing them. All of our acts did an AMAZING job, and sent us off into Spring Break on a high note! A big thank you to all of our acts that were super entertaining!

5th Grade STEM
In 5th Grade STEM, students are learning about air-to-space travel and the technological advancements that were made along the way. Students began this unit with learning about the beginning of air travel, then making airplanes to record their flight distances. Students learned about the long journey of space travel, and built a lunar module that is similar to the one from the Apollo 11 mission.
6th Grade STEM
Students have been building, creating, and designing in the STEM/zSpace lab! In STEM class, students have been working on the basics of 3D printing and coding. Some classes have worked to program Sphero to dance the Hokey Pokey and others have worked to create personalized keychains, bookmarks, or stamps. In zSpace, all classes have been experimenting with motion. Sixth graders in Mrs. Thrush's Science class tackled velocity on zSpace and then utilized Sphero to gather data, putting into practice what they were able to learn in our virtual space. Fifth graders in Mrs. Pierce's class have been able to travel to different plants in zSpace to gather acceleration data on dropped objects and ended the unit by recreating mini golf holes.
Additionally...
All year students have been coming to the STEM lab to record morning announcements. Sixth grade students design the background for each day and then students rotate throughout the year. It's been the best way to start our morning!
February and March Perfect Attendance
In February, 127 Central students had perfect attendance, and in March, 150 students had perfect attendance. Students received a perfect attendance badge on their locker and are highlighted on a school bulletin board. Students that receive perfect attendance each month will be entered into a drawing for prizes, and will be able to help their class earn class rewards. Having great attendance is very beneficial to the success of our students. Congratulations to all of our students with perfect attendance!
Outside Food and Deliveries
We request that parents not bring in fast food for their child as a lunch option. Additionally, please see the following policy about deliveries from our handbook:
Flowers, balloons, food, and/or other assorted items sent to the school for delivery to a student are prohibited. Please be advised that such deliveries will not be accepted at school.
