Team LEAD Presents Our Faculty Showcase Team LEAD Presents Our Faculty Showcase

Team LEAD, along with their supervisors Mrs. Knott and Mrs. Smith, organized and MC'd our Faculty Showcase on March 22. 5th Grade STEM 5th Grade STEM

In 5th Grade STEM, students are learning about air-to-space travel and the technological advancements that were made along the way. Students began this unit with learning about the beginning of air travel, then making airplanes to record their flight distances. Students learned about the long journey of space travel, and built a lunar module that is similar to the one from the Apollo 11 mission.

6th Grade STEM 6th Grade STEM

Students have been building, creating, and designing in the STEM/zSpace lab! In STEM class, students have been working on the basics of 3D printing and coding. Some classes have worked to program Sphero to dance the Hokey Pokey and others have worked to create personalized keychains, bookmarks, or stamps. In zSpace, all classes have been experimenting with motion. Sixth graders in Mrs. Thrush's Science class tackled velocity on zSpace and then utilized Sphero to gather data, putting into practice what they were able to learn in our virtual space. Fifth graders in Mrs. Pierce's class have been able to travel to different plants in zSpace to gather acceleration data on dropped objects and ended the unit by recreating mini golf holes.

Additionally...

All year students have been coming to the STEM lab to record morning announcements. Sixth grade students design the background for each day and then students rotate throughout the year. It's been the best way to start our morning!

February and March Perfect Attendance February and March Perfect Attendance

In February, 127 Central students had perfect attendance, and in March, 150 students had perfect attendance. Students received a perfect attendance badge on their locker and are highlighted on a school bulletin board. Students that receive perfect attendance each month will be entered into a drawing for prizes, and will be able to help their class earn class rewards. Having great attendance is very beneficial to the success of our students. Congratulations to all of our students with perfect attendance!
