Henry Happenings

We had a fantastic time at the Bulldog Dash on Friday! While our first and second graders had to move indoors after about 15 minutes due to the rain, their energy and enthusiasm made the event a wonderful experience for all. We are so grateful to our amazing Henry PTO and to our families for your ongoing partnership and support.

We are thrilled to share that, over the weekend, the PTO officially reached its fundraising goal of $20,000! Tomorrow morning, we will announce to students that they have earned three recesses a day for an entire week as their reward. This will begin on Thursday, allowing our teachers a few days to adjust their plans in preparation for this special celebration and to avoid our half day on Wednesday.

Please join us this Monday, September 8 at 7pm in the Henry library for our first general PTO meeting of the school year! As a Henry parent/guardian you are automatically a member of the Henry PTO and welcome to attend. We will introduce the new board, go over the PTO calendar, vote to approve the budget, and give an update on our Bulldog Dash fundraiser among other things. We will also be welcoming guest speaker Amanda Stanec. She is the owner of Move Live Learn, author of the book Protect the Joy: A Positive, Collaborative Approach to Youth Sport, and she's a Parkway parent. We hope to see you there!

We tried a new format for curriculum night and would like to know how families were able to access the information. Please let us know how you were able to attend! Thank you!

On September 10th, 11th, and 12th, representatives from the Boy Scouts will deliver brief informational presentations to all students during grade-level town hall meetings. These presentations, each lasting approximately five minutes, are designed to introduce students to the Boy Scouts organization and will not interfere with regular classroom instruction.

If you prefer that your student not participate, please contact their teacher to request an opt-out.

Kindergarten families, when you get a chance, kindly bring your welcome yard sign back to the front office or drop it through the pick up/drop off line. We appreciate your help—thank you so much!

The nurse has started doing vision screenings at school. You will only receive a note from the nurse if your child did not pass and needs to be referred to an eye doctor. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Dental Safari is coming to Henry Elementary on October 14. Forms will be coming home this week to sign your student(s) up for a dental cleaning and sealants if needed. This is a convenient way to see the dentist right here at school and promote good oral hygiene at an early age. Please contact me if you have any questions. Forms should be returned to Nurse Baker.

Classroom parties at Henry would not be possible without our volunteers! There are two ways to help:

1. We are looking for TWO room parents per classroom to help plan and lead both the Fall & Spring parties.
2. We also need additional party volunteers to help on the day of the party. Party volunteers can sign up to help at either the Fall or Spring party or both!

Please consider signing up to help - we need both room parents and party volunteers to help make our classroom parties a success!
