Family Update
Davis Middle School
December 5, 2025
Happy Friday, Davis Families!
We had a great week back after Thanksgiving break! Tuesday was a fun snow day surprise for everyone and then our students and staff were right back to work on Wednesday. Our 8th grade students that take high school courses are gearing up for their semester exams, and the rest of our students are doing a great job of finishing up semester projects and activities before winter break.
The week before winter break will bring another spirit week from our Student Council. Stay tuned for the dress up days that will come out next week. Finally, our Student Council is also doing a drive for Give Back Week. Items to donate include: peanut butter or jelly, applesauce, pancake mix, syrup, breakfast bars, oatmeal, rice, pasta, mac & cheese, cereal, Hamburger Helper, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, canned food (fruit, veggies, beans, soup, chili, tuna, chicken) shaving cream, toothbrush or toothpaste, soap, tissues, or dish soap. Thank you for considering to donate! Students can turn donations in to their Irish Period teacher.
Have a great weekend!
Go Irish!

If Your 8th Grade Student Takes a High School Course...
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Students enrolled in a course for high school credit are required to take a semester exam at the conclusion of the first semester. The reporting of the exam grade differs depending on whether the course is taken at the middle school or the high school. For students taking high school credit courses at both the middle and high school, they will need to switch between schools in Infinite Campus to see grades. Both reporting methods are equivalent when calculating into student GPAs.
For High School Credit Courses Taught at the Middle School:
The exam grade is reported separately from the trimester grades during trimester 2.
The exam accounts for 5% of the student's overall final grade.
(here you can see a student with their T1 and Exam grade posted, while showing the T2 and Final grades in-progress)
For High School Credit Courses Taught at the High School:
The exam grade is included and calculated as part of the first semester grade.
The exam is weighted as 10% of the first semester grade, which ultimately results in a 5% contribution to the student's overall final grade.
(here you can see a student with their Q1 grade posted, while showing the Q2, Exam and semester Final grades in-progress)

Irish Athletics
The Winter sports season is off to a great start. We are three weeks in, and all of our teams are getting better each week and competing very well. This past week, the Irish Wrestling team went 2-0, and the 7th & 8th Girls' basketball teams were undefeated, as well as the boys' teams. Let's not forget that our Cheer Squad has been awesome at every event! Well done, ladies!
A huge "thank you" to all of our parent volunteers who have been manning the clocks, scorebooks, and helping with concessions. Your help so far has been tremendous, and we really appreciate your help in supporting all of our kids! Great parents make for great programs, and we have the best of both at Davis Middle School

The Ultimate Present: Give the Gift of Global Travel!
Struggling to find an unforgettable gift for the student in your life? Skip the gadgets and clothes this year and give them the world! The DCS Global Travel Program offers an incredible opportunity: the gift of global experience, cultural immersion, and lifelong memories. Imagine the look on their face when they unwrap a certificate for a journey to Italy, Ecuador, South Africa, or Japan. These teacher-led trips are not just for fun, but as powerful extensions of the classroom. Students explore historical sites, practice languages, and personally witness concepts they've read about. Learn more about the program and trips being offered in 2026 and 2027 here.
