ARVA McKinney-Vento Resources
For Families Experiencing Homelessness
What is McKinney-Vento?
Removing Barriers to Education
ARVA assists eligible students and families in a variety of ways:
Immediate Enrollment: Families experiencing homelessness are sometimes unable to access important pieces of documentation necessary to enroll students. ARVA works with families to immediately enroll students who are eligible for MKV services. The district may temporarily waive certain pieces of documentation so that the student can enroll quickly and avoid missing important educational opportunities.
Access to Education: Families who are eligible for MKV services may qualify for one of ARVA's hotspots. These hotspots are limited and are distributed based on the level of need. For more information, please email Michele Newnum at the address below.
All districts that receive Title I-A funds must reserve some funds necessary to provide services for children and youth who experience homelessness. Please email Michele Newnum at minewnum@arva.org for an application to see if your family is eligible for MKV services.
