Read Across America - Reading Challenge!
March is Read Across America month. During the the month of March, students are encouraged to participate in a reading challenge. Mrs. C-Smith kicked off the challenge with this video - check it out!
How the reading challenge works:
- Earn one ticket for every 30 pages read.
- Show your Cougar Time teacher the pages you read to receive your ticket.
- Tickets will earn you a chance to win prizes at the end of the month!
- Books must be read during March - no past reads count!
- For an additional challenge and added fun, you can try and get a Bingo(s) using this Bingo Card. If you get a Bingo, write the book title on the Bingo Card.
- Print a copy of the the Bingo Card and turn it in to Mrs. C-Smith in the Media Center. Or if you prefer to use Notability, you can just show her!
BSU Door Decorating Contest!
To celebrate Black History Month (Feb. 1 - Mar. 1), LSHS' Black Student Union (BSU) invited Cougar Time classes to participate in a door decorating contest. As the month came to an end, BSU students went around to judge the door decorating. Congratulations to Mrs. Roth's Cougar Time for winning the competition! They earned a donut party! A special shout out to Lillian Launsbach and Alice Yi for their help and inspiration.
The Journalism Club - The Current
On Monday, the Journalism Club published Ellie McDonald's piece, titled "The Top Two Classrooms to Visit at South." Congrats to Woollen and Hedin for getting the nods. Check it out here.
The club has also decided to start publishing crosswords as a means to increase traffic to their website and social media. They've published their first crossword on the website, and will post the answers on Instagram next week Monday.
