Video of the Month Video of the Month

For this month’s Methacton Matters, I visited Eagleville Elementary to talk with teachers and a fourth grade student about how literacy instruction is evolving across our district. Grounded in research-based practices, our classrooms are focused on building strong reading foundations in the early grades and helping students grow into thoughtful, confident readers and writers. Eagleville is also helping lead this work by opening its classrooms for collaboration and shared learning among our educators. It’s clear that through consistent, engaging instruction, our students are gaining the skills they need for success in school and beyond.

Watch the video below to learn more about how our teachers are helping students improve their literacy skills!

Art Goes to School Connects Students with Culture and Creativity

Art Goes to School of Delaware Valley recently completed another successful series of visits to Methacton School District, continuing a nearly 50-year tradition of bringing a museum-like experience into elementary classrooms. Led by dedicated volunteers—many of them retired educators—the program introduces students to a wide range of artwork spanning cultures, time periods, and styles. Through guided discussions, students learn to observe closely, interpret meaning, and express how art makes them feel, strengthening both communication and critical thinking skills. This year’s collection ranged from ancient cave paintings to modern abstract works, along with hands-on exploration of small sculptures.

The program reflects Methacton’s commitment to growth by encouraging curiosity and deeper thinking, while also helping students appreciate our diversity through exposure to art from around the world. Each visit opens students’ eyes to new perspectives and reinforces the value of creative expression.

Lower Providence Presbyterian Preschool Donates to Backpack Program

Lower Providence Presbyterian Preschool has once again made a generous donation to our Backpack Program. The preschoolers, their families and staff collected non-perishable food items, including granola bars and canned soup, and packed them into individual, decorated bags. Each of the 45 bags donated included a heart-shaped card with an inspiring message. These bags, plus some other boxes of donated food, will be distributed to the Methacton families who registered for our Backpack program.

How amazing to see some of the youngest members of our community making a big difference for Methacton families! Visit our website to find out how you can support the Methacton Backpack program, too!

Students Explore Future Jobs at School Events

This month, students at both Arcola Intermediate School and Methacton High School had a chance to plan for life after Methacton by meeting with representatives from a variety of careers and companies.

The MHS Job Fair was held April 10, and students in Grades 9-12 were given a dedicated period to meet with professionals from across the region and explore various career paths such in industries like healthcare, finance, public safety and more.

At Arcola, the annual STEAM Fair provided an opportunity for students to hear from nearly 100 different professionals, including representatives from Dow, Merck, NorCom Systems, CHOP, and Equitable.

Both experiences highlighted the important partnerships between members of our community and our schools and allows students to get a deeper look at the endless possibilities that await them after high school. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Community Cares Celebrates First Year of Peer Mentorship Program

Congratulations to the students, staff and partners who participated in the first year of Community Cares at Methacton! A culminating celebration for the peer mentorship and student-led prevention program was held at Arcola Intermediate School on April 7. The high school leaders received recognition for their outstanding work in teaching 6th and 7th grade students valuable life lessons throughout the year.

The Community Cares program focuses on building character, strengthening relationships and teaching essential life skills such as conflict resolution and active listening. I want to shout out the great work of our Methacton staff who organized this program at the district, along with Rep. Joe Webster's office, Mission Kids and the many other partners who made this program a true success. Together, they built a strong foundation for future years of Community Cares and helped make our 6th and 7th graders better equipped to handle challenges today, tomorrow, and throughout their lives.

Mini-THON Raises Nearly $45,000!

The Methacton High School community came together for the annual Mini-THON on April 10, and it was a huge success! To conclude their year-long fundraising efforts, more than 260 students stayed on their feet for seven hours, dancing and participating in mini golf, dodgeball and other games.

In total, the students raised a staggering $44,916 to donate to Four Diamonds, which provides world-class care, comprehensive family support and life-saving research in the fight against childhood cancer. I am so proud of these students for making a difference in the lives of families throughout our region.
