Principal's Message
Assalam Aleikum!
Dear NISL Families!
I am excited to share another wonderful accomplishment for NISL!
The PreACT Rising Stars Program is a new ACT recognition program that launched this year using student performance data from last school year’s PreACT 8/9 assessment. We are proud to share that Nur Islamic School of Louisville was recognized in the program’s very first year.
Based on PreACT 8/9 results from May 2025, our students received their awards in January 2026. The PreACT 8/9 is a standardized assessment taken by students at the end of 8th and 9th grade, designed to measure college and career readiness and predict future ACT performance.
Award Categories include:
PreACT Distinguished Scholars: Top 3% (97th percentile and higher in U.S. Rank)
PreACT Rising Scholars: Top 4–10% (96th to 90th percentile in U.S. Rank)
PreACT Early Scholars: Top 11–50% (89th to 50th percentile in U.S. Rank)
Of the 20 NISL students who took the assessment, 13 students (65%) earned Rising Stars recognition, an exceptional outcome:
Early Scholars: Top 11–50% nationally (12 students)
Rising Scholars: Top 4–10% nationally (1 student)
NISL earned more recognition than several other schools statewide. When considering the total number of students enrolled in 8th and 9th grade, this is an especially strong achievement and highlights the academic growth and college readiness of our students. Families can learn more about this new national recognition program and view participating schools by visiting ACT’s Rising Stars webpage. Our school will be listed there soon as part of this recognition.
We are incredibly proud of our students and grateful to our teachers and families for their continued support of academic excellence. Stay tuned for more celebrations! Our Quarter 2 and Semester 1 awards will be highlighted in the next newsletter, inshaAllah.
Sincerely,
Aisha Blagaia
