Principal Message
Dear Fisler Families,
Thank you to all of our families who joined us for Back to School Night! I loved seeing our community come together to support our students and start the year connected and engaged.
I am proud to share that Robert C. Fisler School has once again received PBIS Platinum Recognition! This recognition reflects the work of our students and staff to create a positive, respectful, and supportive school community. Thank you to our families for continuing to reinforce KSRR at home and helping us build a strong school culture together.
Also, a big congratulations goes to our Fisler Speech Team! Last week at the FSD Board Meeting, Fisler was recognized for earning a “School of Distinction” team award at Nationals last year. We are honored to be one of only five schools in the country to receive this award. We are so proud of our students!!
Thank you for being such an important part of Fisler. I am looking forward to another great week together!
Warmly,
Caroline Llewellyn, Ed.D.

Keeping Our Navigators Cool & Safe
With temperatures expected to reach the upper 90s or higher over the next several days this week, we will be taking extra precautions to keep our students safe and comfortable at school.
When temperatures reach 90 degrees or higher, we will:
Encourage frequent hydration and provide opportunities for students to refill their water bottles.
Limit outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day and move recess, PE, and other outdoor activities indoors when needed.
Adjust outdoor schedules and activities based on the temperature and conditions throughout the day.
How Families Can Help:
Please send your child to school with a full water bottle and encourage them to drink water throughout the day. Lightweight, comfortable clothing and sun protection are also recommended.
We will continue to monitor the weather and make adjustments throughout the school day to ensure our students remain safe, cool, and ready to learn.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our Navigators safe!
FSD Policy for Personal Cell Phones and Devices
Please review the District’s Mobile Devices Policy for Elementary and Middle School. All mobile devices such as cell phones and smartwatches are to be kept off and put away in your child’s backpack. Thank you for reviewing this with your child(ren).
Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS)
Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS)
For over ten years, our school has participated in an important district initiative called Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS). We have earned the honor of being a PBIS Platinum School for the last five years. So what is PBIS?
What is Positive Behavior Interventions and Support?
PBIS is a school-wide approach designed to create a safe, positive, and effective learning environment. It focuses on teaching and reinforcing positive behavior so teachers can teach and students can learn. PBIS is not a specific program or curriculum. It provides consistent expectations and support for students across classrooms and school settings.
What is PBIS at Our School?
At Fisler, we use consistent behavior expectations throughout our school. Students are taught these expectations through modeling, practice, and reinforcement throughout the year. Our Fisler School-wide PBIS Matrix focuses on our four core values: Kind, Safe, Respectful, and Responsible (KSRR).
Playground Rules and Expectations
Our playground expectations are designed to keep students safe while reinforcing KSRR.
Students are encouraged to work through minor disagreements respectfully. They may use their words or Rock, Paper, Scissors to resolve simple conflicts. If they cannot resolve the situation, they should ask an adult for help. By consistently reinforcing these expectations at school and at home, we can help students enjoy recess while building important social and conflict-resolution skills. Thank you for your partnership!

But don’t worry—we’ll be restocking soon, so stay tuned! 🎉
Next week, we’ll also be opening our Fisler Spirit Wear Store for purchases. Please note that the store will only include items that are currently in stock, so be sure to grab your favorites while they’re available!
Reflections Time Has Come! 🎨
For over 50 years, the PTA Reflections program has encouraged students to explore their thoughts, feelings, and ideas through the arts. It helps students build confidence, creativity, and a love for learning while giving them opportunities to have their artwork recognized. Each year, students from Pre-K through 12th grade create original artwork inspired by a student-created theme. This year’s theme is: “WHAT MY CULTURE MEANS TO ME” It’s a wonderful opportunity for students to share their creativity, express themselves, and celebrate their unique talents! For more information, program details, and participation criteria, please click HERE.
Please complete the Reflections Student Entry Packet and email your completed application to Reflectionsfisler@gmail.com. Don’t forget to make sure all required information is completed before submitting your entry.
The application DEADLINE is 10/1

Please take any phone donations to Mrs. Sonal in the office. Leave your name, student name, and we’ll get the thank you and tax donation letter to you.
Science Elective and Science Olympiad —
The Science Elective is new this year and it is a great addition to our middle school electives lineup. F²AST is proud to be the sponsor of Fisler’s Science Olympiad team, and now proud to support this new elective. This elective is open to all middle school students each Trimester and offers a real preview of high school science. Did you know that Mr. Soliguen, our new middle school science teacher, was most recently a science teacher at Sunny Hills HS? Students will be exposed to different disciplines in science every Trimester — from biology and human anatomy, to environmental science, foundational chemistry and physics, and engineering. The elective focuses on hands-on labs, challenges, and real-world connections. The goal is simple: help kids discover what they're curious about and have fun figuring out how the world works. One note: this elective is separate from the Science Olympiad Team, and enrolling in the class isn't required to join the Team. This is an excellent opportunity for students to accelerate their education in the sciences, prepare for high school science, and even prepare for Science Olympiad competition.
Just like our Speech Team, Science Olympiad has a competition season that starts with local and regional competitions, graduates to State competition, and culminates at Nationals. It’s a big deal, and Fisler has the ONLY Science Olympiad Team in the Fullerton School District, and one of the most successful in all North Orange County. As we’ve stated before, F²AST is excited to support this program and help it grow. If a student finds a science topic they love, this elective and the Science Olympiad Team are great ways to take it further.

Speech Team —
Congratulations to Fisler’s Speech Team for winning a “School of Distinction” team award at Nationals Last Year - one of only five schools recognized in the country! And, our team did it with only three students representing. Our team beat other schools with twice or three times as many competitors. That’s how good our students are. And now it’s time for new students to sign up. This is a rare opportunity for your student to be on a competitive team with a real track record of excellence at the national level. Students learn public speaking and performance skills and work as a team to practice and support each other. This is a year-long commitment with weekly practices and weekend tournaments between October and May. While the commitment is large, so is the payoff. Here at Fisler we are lucky to be able to develop students starting in 4th grade, promote them to the middle school team, and prepare them for national competition. It’s a genuine advantage and another place where Fisler really shines. Interested students in grades 4 - 8 are invited to apply. Middle school students can still apply even if they were not on the team in elementary. Many thanks to our dedicated and talented coaches: Mrs. Hancock - elementary and Mrs. Yi & Ms. Ellison - jr. high.
The District's student interest form is open now and closes September 4. Let’s repeat at Nationals again this year!
