Hello QE Families!

Welcome to the start of a school year with endless possibilities. Our first week was filled with high energy, warm smiles, and big hugs. Seeing our students quickly learn new routines, engage in their learning, and showcase true QE PRIDE has made the transition to the Sixth Grade Center positive and inspiring. I keep thinking about Dr. Hoffman’s powerful question for us: “What if this is our best year yet?” I believe it can be, and I am so excited to partner with our amazing parents and families to make that vision a reality for every student.

I hope your family enjoys a well-deserved, restful Labor Day weekend, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready to learn on Tuesday, September 8th!

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Thank you so much for your patience and flexibility during arrival and dismissal as we navigate our new procedures. Thanks to your support and the valuable feedback from both staff and parents, we made daily adjustments this past week and saw noticeable improvements in efficiency every day. As we work through the updated routines next week, our highest priority remains everyone’s safety, ensuring students are accounted for at dismissal, and getting you through the line as smoothly as possible.

To help us keep all students safe and maintain an efficient flow, please take time to review and follow the Arrival and Dismissal Procedures. Adhering to these steps ensures our staff can manage traffic safely and get our students where they need to be without significant delay.

For dismissal, each child has a designated exit door. Thank you for your help with that! If you need to change the designated exit on a particular day, you will need to contact the main office so we can notify the teacher of the change for the day.

We will continue to monitor the process closely throughout this coming week and refine things as needed. Thank you again for working alongside us to create a safe, seamless start and end to the school day for our kids!

Attendance Procedures

Here is a link to QCSD’s Attendance Procedures. All absences are required to be reported, and QCSD uses SafeArrival as our absence management system. If you have not set up an account yet, please do so at https://go.schoolmessenger.com. Parents can report their child’s absence 24 hours/7 days a week and future absences can be reported at any time.

Title 1 - Parent Right-to-Know Letter

As a Title I school, we are committed to transparency and to keeping families informed about their child’s education. Please review this “Parent Right-to-Know Letter ” for more details about your rights under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

QE PRIDE

Our students had a fantastic start to the new school year! We've spent time focusing on building a positive and supportive school community by teaching and reinforcing our QE Pride expectations: Perseverance, Respect, In Control, Dependability, and Effort.

As you may know, our school uses a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework to guide our approach to student behavior. Think of PBIS as our way of creating a safe and engaging learning environment for every child. We believe that by clearly teaching our expectations and celebrating student success, we can help all students reach their full potential, not just academically but also socially and emotionally. Here is our QE PBIS Handbook for your review.

Our partnership with you is so important to us. We encourage you to talk with your child about what QE PRIDE means to them and how they can show it both at home and at school.

Student Wellness Policy

We will follow Policy 246 (Student Wellness) to keep everyone safe and healthy at school. We will find ways to celebrate birthdays and ask that students do not bring in birthday food treats. We are working to find alternative experiences for school celebrations. Thank you for your help with this and we would love to hear your ideas!

Parent Organization - Partners in Education (PIE)

As we move into the new school year, please consider becoming involved in our parent community by attending our PIE, our parent teacher organization, meetings and events. We are open to finding ways to continue to involve parents/guardians to help create engaging learning environments that will promote student success. Thank you for your continued support as we work together as a school community to inspire our students to strive for and achieve their goals.

Our first meeting is Wednesday, September 16th at QE (6:30pm - 8:00pm). Here is the link for those who would like to participate virtually.

We are in need of Parent/Guardian Volunteers to help in the Library. We have books that need to be reshelved. Please email me at jbubser@qcsd.org if you are interested and we can create a schedule that works for you! Here is the link to review the necessary volunteer clearances.

About Us

At QE, we challenge our students academically and behaviorally through our state-recognized Positive Behavior Support Program, P.R.I.D.E. We believe every child is a valued and treasured member of our school family. You can trust that we are fully committed to ensuring your child feels respected, safe, and supported in their growth.
