Happy Friday, Kramer Families!
What a fantastic week at Kramer Elementary! Our Field Day was a huge success filled with smiles, laughter, and teamwork. We were incredibly fortunate to have beautiful weather and so many amazing volunteers who helped make the day special for our students. Thank you for your time, energy, and support!
Our 4th grade students enjoyed an exciting trip to Governor Bebb Park where they explored nature and spent time learning outside the classroom. Meanwhile, our 3rd grade students worked hard during MAP testing, and we are so proud of their effort and perseverance.
Looking ahead to next week, we are excited for the Kramer Mile on Monday! We would love for families and community members to join us along Sycamore Street to cheer on our students as they participate.
Kramer Mile Schedule:
• Kindergarten & 1st Grade – 2:05 p.m.
• 2nd & 3rd Grade – 2:15 p.m.
• 4th & 5th Grade – 2:25 p.m.
We hope to see you there as we celebrate our students and encourage them along the route!
We still have a few field trips in the next two weeks. Please remember that ALL parents and guardians must have a background check on file with the board office in order to attend any field trip. This process can take a few days, so we encourage you to plan ahead. Please reach out to the main office if you have any questions.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We appreciate all you do to help make Kramer such a great place to learn and grow—have a wonderful weekend!

Reading Corner May Newsletter
As we approach the end of the school year, we want to address the issue of “Summer Slide”. Younger students are at greater risk of losing skills learned throughout the school year because they are at a crucial stage of development. According to Scholastic, “Summer Slide” has been a topic of research since at least 1996. There are many ways to keep this from happening to your student, without making summer reading boring.
Some examples of this:
Keep books in your students’ hands by visiting the library or the Bookmobile. (You will need a library card.) Link to Lane Library
E-books can be found for free with your library card at HooplaDigital.com
Look for a “Little Free Library” in your neighborhood. One can be found outside your elementary school.
Activities:
Create a cozy reading space for your student with lights, comfy pillows, and stuffed animals to read to.
Go camping with your student in your living room with a blanket fort, flashlight, and a good book.
Participate in a summer reading bingo challenge. Here is one you may like from Scholastic! Summer Reading Bingo
Most importantly, please read with your child over the summer!
YOU are the best teacher for your child!

Health Reminder: Flu and Seasonal Illness
We are seeing an increase in flu and seasonal illnesses at school. To help prevent the spread of
illness, please keep your child home if they have a fever (100°F or higher), vomiting or diarrhea,
significant cough, sore throat with fever, body aches, extreme fatigue, or flu-like symptoms.
Students should be fever-free for 24 hours without medication and symptom-free for 24 hours
after vomiting or diarrhea before returning to school. Thank you for helping keep our school
community healthy.

PAX is in full swing at Kramer! The students are getting involved and it has been wonderful to see them take part in implementing PAX in their classrooms and in the building!
