Hello Returning and New High School Families!

I hope everyone is having an amazing summer so far! This will be the first of two summer high school newsletters (the next one will arrive mid-August). The goal is to keep everyone updated to ensure a great start to the 2026/2027 school year.

We will be sending out the summer paperwork by August 7th. Please don't hesitate to call, or email, if you have any questions.

We are excited for a slow and relaxing summer vacation (however, also want to recognize families may already be planning for school starting back up in late August). Below are a few opening day dates and information:

AUGUST 10TH - HS Football begins

AUGUST 10TH - 14TH - Marching Band Camp

AUGUST 13TH - All other Fall HS sports begin (except Golf, which begins on August 17th)

AUGUST 24TH - MS Open House

AUGUST 26TH - 7th Grade and 9th Grade Orientation. We will hold a full-day (buses will be running their routes) for our incoming 7th and 9th graders. Other grades do not start until August 27th.

AUGUST 27th - First day of school for ALL GRADES.

SEPTEMBER 4TH - Picture Day

SEPTEMBER 24TH - HS Open House

OCTOBER 13TH - 17TH - Slaterbration (Homecoming)

7th and 9th graders will have a full-day orientation on AUGUST 26TH. Buses will run their normal routes (these will be shared out by mid-August). This is a great day for Freshmen to get to know the high school, meet their teachers, and walk through their schedules. I have attached a link to the orientation day schedule below.

August 27th is our first whole-school day (grades 7-12). I have attached our schedule below. We will begin the day with a "Welcome Back" assembly and then go through our normal bell schedule.

Please encourage your child to get as involved as possible. We strive to create opportunities for all of our students (we're always looking for new potential clubs, too)!

The new elevator project is moving along great! While we may still have some construction going on when students return, we are currently on track to having teachers back in the classrooms that had to be closed during the first phases of the project.

Our science rooms are also in the process of getting new counters and improved sinks.

The maintenance staff is painting, cleaning, and waxing around the school. We are on track to greeting everyone back to a sparkling clean school!

Every school day counts! Please encourage your child to stay engaged in their education. If you are running into struggles, we are here to help. We have a dedicated Guidance team and FHUMHS attendance team focused on adding supports for all of our students. Please feel free to reach out to our Guidance Department at (802)265-3636 for information and support.
