We had a great week here at GMSE! Our 7th graders enjoyed their trip to the zoo today, and it was such a fun way to bring learning outside of the classroom. A quick reminder that there will be no school on Thursday, October 2nd for staff professional development and no school on Friday, October 3rd for a conference comp day.

MAP Assessment scores will be printed early next week and will be sent home with students on Wednesday, October 1. We encourage you to take a few minutes to review these results with your child and celebrate their progress.

6th Grade Families:
The sixth grade conference Google Form is now closed. If you submitted a request, you should have received an email confirmation (or Google Meet invite) with details on Friday, September 19. We are so grateful to everyone who filled it out, and we look forward to meeting with many of you soon!

Student Council Application process for 6th graders who are interested in applying will open on Monday. More information will be on announcements next week. Please encourage your child to apply if they are responsible, organized, and interested in making a positive impact in the school.

ELA: Students read two stories about community and belonging this week. Ask them about what they learned! All students should have an independent book for school and home. Ask them what their weekly reading goal is!

Spanish: Ms. Learman will not be available at the first 8th grade conference night 9/30. However, she will be available at the 2nd night of conferences on 10/9. Please email her directly at learmana@gjps.org if you cannot make the 10/9 date and want to schedule a conference with her.

The PTA Hospitality Committee is seeking new members! We are a fun group that focuses on sprinkling extra TLC to the staff at GMSE. Some of the things we do are: conference meals, donut surprises, cookies and cocoa, a big school supply refresh, and teacher appreciation week- just to name a few!
