District 303 attendance procedures
District 303 attendance procedures were updated and approved at the June 9, 2025, Board Meeting. All district procedures are available in the CUSD 303 Student Handbook found in the Parent/Community tab in the Information column of the districtd303.org website.
Updates to the attendance procedures were made to bring consistency across all schools within the district and to clarify student attendance expectations. One example of an update is the removal of the pre-arranged absence procedure. This aligns with the definitions of excused and unexcused absences found in Section 2.2.
Families are encouraged to review the CUSD 303 Student Handbook to familiarize themselves with the districtwide procedures.
Here is a link that takes you to the section of the handbook that is dedicated to attendance. In addition, the district created magnets for all to support keeping track of absences. These were sent home with students yesterday or today.

As we head into Thanksgiving break, I want to share a few highlights from a wonderful week at school.
Last night we hosted our Primary Literacy Night, and it was a tremendous success. We welcomed nearly 50 families, and our teachers did an incredible job sharing strategies to support early reading skills—along with the importance of fostering a true love of reading at home. It was a joyful, engaging evening, and we are so grateful to everyone who attended.
Throughout the week, our STEM classes held their own version of a “Macy’s Day Parade.” Every student created a float, and the creativity on display was incredible. The students proudly shared their floats with their classmates, and it brought so much excitement and celebration to the building.
As we head into the break, I want to wish each of you a restful, joy-filled week. Thanksgiving reminds us to reflect on the meaningful gifts in our lives—not material things, but the people, relationships, and moments that truly matter. I’m looking forward to spending time with my family, running in our local 5K, and enjoying our annual family turkey bowl football game.
Thank you for your partnership and for being such an important part of our school community. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving break!
