Dear families and friends of MLD,
What a week it has been at Mildred L. Day! I'm writing with a full heart and plenty to celebrate.
A HUGE SHOUT-OUT TO OUR PTO!
Our PTO has gone above and beyond, and they deserve a heartfelt thank-you for many reasons.
First, they organized the amazing Buckaroo Bash last Friday night. The event was so well attended, and a big thank-you goes to every family who made the effort to come out. Watching MLD families connect with one another was truly heartwarming. Seeing our students play games and have fun alongside their teachers was a joy. And the food was fantastic! (A personal shout-out to the pulled pork, the mac 'n cheese, and the homemade applesauce!)
Thank you as well to all of the staff members who were involved in planning, setting up, and running the event. It took many hands and great organization to pull it off, and those of us who attended had the time of our lives.
Second, less than a week later, this incredible crew put together a fabulous dinner for our staff as we stayed late for Parent-Teacher Conferences last night. PTO, you have become such an important part of the fabric of both our school and our community. Thank you!
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
Our building has been alive with activity this week as families came in and out for conferences. Thank you to every family who took the time to meet with your child's teacher. The partnership between home and school is one of the most powerful factors in a child's success. When families and teachers work together, share what they're seeing, and set goals as a team, students thrive. We are so grateful to partner with you in your child's learning and growth.
HONORING OUR VETERANS
In case you haven't heard yet, we are working hard to put together a special recognition for any and all veterans connected to our MLD families. Our Veterans Day Assembly is scheduled for Tuesday, November 10th, for our students, the veterans being honored, and the families connected to them. Please see the attached flyer, which includes a link to register the veterans in your family for this special event. We would love to celebrate them!
HALLOWEEN COMMUNITY MEETING
Please join us for our Community Meeting next Friday, October 30th, as we showcase the fun we have here at MLD with Halloween! Please see the attached notice for guidance on costumes that are appropriate for school. Before the Community Meeting, we'd love to highlight photos of your students getting cozy while they read at home! Please see the flyer below for details on how to submit a photo to the collection.
