FHS March Update
March 2, 2026
As we begin a new trimester and look ahead to the arrival of spring, there is a renewed sense of energy and excitement throughout our school community. The longer days and warmer weather bring fresh opportunities for growth, learning, and connection.
Spring sports and activities are getting underway, and it’s wonderful to see our students demonstrating dedication, sportsmanship, and school spirit as they step into their seasons. In addition, FBLA, FFA, and Speech are in full swing, with students representing our school through competition, leadership, and performance. We’re also eagerly anticipating our upcoming musical, which promises to showcase the incredible talent, creativity, and commitment of our students and staff.
At the same time, Graduation is on the horizon for our seniors, a meaningful milestone that reminds us to celebrate how far they’ve come and the bright futures ahead of them.
This season is always a special one, filled with momentum, accomplishment, and celebration. Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we make the most of these exciting months together.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mahon

Scheduling for 26-27 School Year
We’re excited to share that students have successfully submitted their 2026–2027 course plans! Thank you to our students and families for the thoughtful time and care put into selecting courses for the upcoming school year.
Our counseling and administrative teams are now beginning the scheduling process. Over the next several weeks, we will review requests and work to build a schedule that best supports student needs and interests. While we strive to accommodate all course requests, some adjustments may be necessary due to class size limits or scheduling conflicts.
More updates will be shared as schedules begin to take shape!
Student Celebrations
Students Earning FFA State Degree
Fewer than 5% of Iowa FFA members receive the prestigious Iowa FFA Degree each year, making it a significant achievement representing high involvement in agricultural education, leadership, and supervised experience, with specific numbers varying slightly annually but consistently representing a small fraction of the ~20,000+ total members.
The Iowa FFA State Degree is the highest honor bestowed by the state association, recognizing members for exceptional dedication to agriculture through leadership, community service, and a strong Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program, requiring extensive coursework, active FFA involvement (including chapter degree), and significant earnings/hours in their SAE, culminating in a special award at the Iowa FFA Leadership Conference.
