A Message From the Principal

Dear Academy Families and Friends,

October is half over, but there's still so much coming to Academy. Here's some things to think about in the weeks ahead.

First I wanted to give out to our Academy Avenue Professional Status Superstars!!! Ms. Rosemond, Ms. Glavin, Ms. Tobin and Mr. Amico were all recognized at our staff meeting Thursday morning. Mr. Jeremy Burm, our district's Director of Human Resources, joined our staff meeting and presented the honors.
Our Annual Trunk or Treat was a smashing success. We had so many students come and enjoy the variety of different trunks...it was a spookily good time...additional pics available on Facebook.
The Academy Ambassadors are back! We had our first meeting with this leadership group on Friday. Our October ROAR Assemblies returns this Monday.
Lunch menu change for the week: Ham sandwich, no turkey sandwich. Also please see the QR code and link below. Food services wants your input.
Parent/Teacher conferences will be in November-letters to sign up will be coming home on October 26th.
The Fun Run is going great. We've reached the $25K mark and continue to push towards $30K. Let's go...all proceeds goes right back to the kiddos and the great things we do.
Speaking of run....the Fall Running Club also starts on Wednesday after school from 3:15-4:15PM
The Pumpkins and Poems contest is back. Flyers went home. Let's see how creative our kids are!!! I would love to see more poems to accentuate our huge "pumpkin patch".
Amplify and Math Tutoring begins Tuesday this week at Academy. This is just one way we tier instruction to support students where they are!

Attendance Counts

Grade 1 is the 1st winner of our Race to 5 Attendance Challenge. The students will get an extra special recess with Mr. Higgins. Remember...your child's attendance has a direct correlation to school success. Thank you for getting them to school on time every day!!! It makes a difference!
