March 26 Spruce Scoop

From the Main Office:
Spruce Elementary proudly celebrates Hazel, Isla, Jace, and Aliyah as our February Lumberleaders—and our very first group of 2nd‑grade leaders! These courageous students have stepped up to guide our school community each morning, showing confidence, kindness, and what true leadership looks like in action.
Every day, they lead by example—using their voices, their enthusiasm, and their positive energy to help make Spruce a place where all students can shine. Their dedication reminds us that leadership isn’t about age; it’s about heart, character, and the courage to try something new.
Keep shining brightly, Lumberleaders.
Spruce Elementary is so lucky to have you.

Jayce was caught being a star student in our classroom. Jayce’s uniqueness stands out in our classroom each day, he always has a fun fact for us, and his creativity shines through our room. Jayce is a hard worker and never gives up until he gets it. We all admire his ambition! Jayce is also very kind and sweet, we are so proud of him for all his hard work!
Jemma was caught being a star student. Jemma is our teacher's helper and leader in our classroom. She goes out of her way every day to make anyone feel welcomed and loved. Jemma is a role model for her peers and always follows classroom routines and directions. Jemma’s kindness goes a long way in our classroom. We are so proud of her for all her hard work.

A Message From Ms. Linsner and Mr. Zon
This past month our SEL topics for the classroom are all about coping skills. We already talked about big deals, little deals and emotions. Sometimes things happen which make us feel sad, or annoyed but if it is something small we can ignore it, walk away or keep on doing what we are doing little deals are no worries! If we continue to have big feelings we can use our coping skill tools to help us calm down. Every student will learn about what a coping skill is and why we use them when we are having big feelings.
We are thinking out of the box with things like chair yoga and desk drumming, all of which have rhythmic movement that helps our body reset in times of stress, creating better emotional regulation in our students.
Check out some SEL resources for at home, to help your students talk about these topics!
