💚💛 Fremd Green & Gold Celebration Is Underway! 💛💚
The excitement has officially kicked off for the Fremd Green & Gold Celebration — and you can start supporting our amazing Viking students right now!
Our online silent auction and raffles are now live, giving everyone the opportunity to participate — even if you’re unable to attend the event in person.
This is a wonderful way to show your Viking pride while directly supporting programs and opportunities that benefit our students. Every bid and raffle entry helps make a meaningful impact!
Let’s come together as a Viking community and make this celebration a huge success. 💚💛
Thank you for supporting our students and hope to see you Friday night at the event!
5 Essentials Survey - Please Complete!
The annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey is now open and available for families through March 13, 2026. Fremd High School encourages you to participate. Your input will help guide our school’s improvement efforts. The survey assesses the following five components of success:
Effective leaders
Collaborative teachers
Involved families
Supportive environment
Ambitious instruction
The survey is in English and Spanish at http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/.
We highly encourage you to participate in this short survey. Note all parents or legal guardians are able to take one survey for every student you have enrolled in our schools.
It is administered by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago on behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education. It is important to us that each student’s family complete this survey, as we are then provided helpful information and feedback for improvement.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact our school’s survey coordinator, Assistant Principal Scott Newmark at 847-755-2618.
Thank you!
Lockdown Drill 3/10/26
On Tuesday, March 10 we will have a lockdown drill. A lockdown would be implemented should a situation arise in or around the building that could jeopardize the physical safety of students and staff. This drill will be conducted in partnership with the Palatine Police Department to ensure our procedures are in line with best practices to keep our students and staff safe; as such, you will see an increased police presence on campus during the drill. In order to minimize the disruption to instructional time, we will utilize a special Activity Period bell schedule on Tuesday, March 10.
An announcement will be made the morning of March 10 notifying students of the drill and reminding them of our RUN-HIDE-SURVIVE protocol. In an actual emergency, students must evaluate the situation and either run away from the building or shelter-in-place in a safe area. For the drill, students who choose to run will be asked to remain in an interior vestibule until the drill has been completed. Students and staff will not know in advance about the exact timing of the drill.
Immediately following the initiation of the lockdown drill, both our website and outdoor marquee sign will have messaging posted informing the public that we are practicing a lockdown and that it is only a drill. In preparing this communication we realize that even the mention of the phrase “hard lockdown” can be alarming. We hope you will find the knowledge that we practice our responses to crises to be reassuring.
Parents or guardians who have concerns or questions about the drills or their student’s participation should contact Assistant Principal Kevin Farrell at (847) 755-2616 or kfarrell@d211.org.
School safety is everyone’s responsibility. If students are aware of concerning information, they are encouraged to notify a trusted adult in the building so that we can respond appropriately. We ask the same of our parents and community members. Parents can assist us in keeping our school safe by reporting matters of concern directly to an administrator. This includes when parents have concerns about their own child’s social and emotional struggles. Parents should encourage their student to report concerning behaviors as well.
There is a Safety Concern button located on every student’s iPad and on our website to report concerns about student safety. While this information can be submitted anonymously, please know that safety concerns can be addressed more effectively when the reporter provides contact information and as many details as possible. This allows administrators the opportunity to fully investigate, communicate, and at times, clarify misinformation.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership to ensure the Fremd High School community is a safe place for our students, staff, and community members.
Viking Boutique 3/19/26
The Viking Boutique is looking for formal wear donations! If you or a family member is looking to donate formal dresses (midi or long length), suits, shoes, accessories or unopened makeup/hair tools, please drop them off in our donation bin inside of Door 1!
Our free Viking Boutique event will be on Thursday, March 19th, outside of the auditorium, during all lunch periods! This is a free event for students looking for something to wear to prom! Let Mrs. Connor or Mrs. Cardenas (both in student services) know if you have questions.
Phishing Email Awareness
We want to make families aware that students continue to receive phishing emails in their D211 accounts. These messages often offer jobs or money, make urgent requests, or provide links asking for personal information. We encourage students not to click links or share passwords and to report anything suspicious right away. The district continues to monitor and remove these messages, and we appreciate your partnership in helping keep student accounts and information secure. Please contact the Fremd Technology department for additional information.
A Note From Our School Resource Officer:
The 2026 Safer Internet Day focus is Exploitation Awareness
The public awareness working group within the Cook County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) taskforce has put together a number of items to assist with Safer Internet Day campaigns. I have several different handouts focused on general information handouts, to those more focused towards athletics based awareness or staff smart cards for recognizing suspicious activity or “flags” displayed by victims of online exploitation. Feel free to come speak with me and see what I can offer in terms of training materials or presentations. Some items include:
Exploitation Awareness Postcard (PDF format)
Online Threats & Youth Teams: What Coaches Need to Know (One-Pager PDF)
Helping Youth Navigate Online Sextortion & Exploitation (PDF)
Fremd Distinguished Graduate Nomination

Parents, staff, retired staff, and other members of the community are encouraged to submit nominations, including self-nominations.
