Principal's Message
Good Evening Weymouth High School Community,
Student Spotlight
The WHS Student Council recently joined SEMASC, the Southeastern Massachusetts Association of Student Councils. SEMASC offers leadership training through three annual conferences. At the first conference, “Break into Leadership” held at Nauset High School, students heard an inspiring keynote from MA Attorney General Andrea Campbell, who shared her journey from foster care to Boston Latin and Princeton. She emphasized that leadership comes from purpose, and that decency and respect matter more than talent. Students then participated in three workshops focused on communication and team-building skills.
WHS’s new freshman science curriculum, Systems Science, is off to an exciting start! Students are exploring atoms, molecules, cells, and nutrient cycles while learning data collection and analysis through the hands-on process of growing Blue Oyster Mushrooms in the classroom. This project highlights how fungi connect to broader biological systems—and extends beyond the science lab. Through a collaboration with Chartwells Food Services, the harvested mushrooms were transformed into a delicious mushroom spread that students and staff sampled during lunch. This partnership brings learning to life, connecting classroom science with sustainable food production right here at WHS.
Congratulations to our swim team on the incredible achievement of Samantha Noble ’29 breaking the school record in the 100m Butterfly! As the Fall season comes to a close, we look forward to celebrating the tournament accomplishments that showcase our students’ dedication, teamwork, and passion for their sports. Kudos to the golf team for securing their spot in the South Sectional Tournament and competing with determination last week.
Please join SEPAC and Student Services Director Meg Verlicco, Psy.D. as we discuss how the change in MCAS graduation requirements impacts students and what it means for transition planning moving forward. The details for this meeting are below in Announcements and Reminders
Transportation/Traffic Updates
All bus IDs have been distributed to students. Going forward, any student taking the bus home must present their ID when boarding and ride only their assigned bus.
As we continue to look at traffic patterns at our school both on campus and off campus, please continue to follow the expectations that we have outlined at the beginning of the year. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority.
