The Friday Roar

Progress reports went home today, Friday, October 9, for students in grades 1–6. Please take some time to review your child’s progress and celebrate their growth!

Families of students in grades 7–8 are encouraged to log in to Infinite Campus to review updated grades and monitor their child’s academic progress.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work together to help every Tenney Tiger succeed!

Parent conferences are coming up on October 22 & 23! Teachers are currently reaching out to families and scheduling conference times.

These conferences are a wonderful opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher, celebrate their progress, ask questions, and work together to support their continued growth. We look forward to partnering with you throughout the school year!

MCAS testing may not begin until the spring, but we are sharing our testing schedule now so families can plan ahead. Regular attendance is especially important during the MCAS testing window, as students need to be present for all sessions assigned to their grade.

Please take a moment to review the Tenney MCAS Schedule and keep it somewhere handy as you make plans for the spring. We encourage families to avoid scheduling appointments, vacations, or other activities during their child’s testing dates whenever possible.

Testing begins in late March and continues through May, with different testing dates for different grade levels.

Thank you for helping us ensure that our students are present, prepared, and ready to do their best!

There will be no school on Monday, October 12, in observance of the Columbus Day holiday.

Picture Day is coming to Tenney Grammar School! Individual student pictures will be taken on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.

Be on the lookout for Picture Day flyers coming home with students soon, with information about ordering and picture packages.

Both Thursday, October 22, and Friday, October 23, will be early release days with parent conferences taking place in the afternoon.

October 22: Evening parent conferences will also be held from 6:00–8:00 PM.

Get ready for some Halloween fun at Tenney Grammar School! Join us for our Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 23, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. Come dressed in your Halloween costume and enjoy an evening of treats, decorated cars, and fun with our Tenney community!

Methuen Public Schools has launched a new Family App to help families stay informed about their child’s bus transportation.

The app provides real-time bus tracking, including bus coverage changes, as well as alerts when a bus arrives or is running late. Families who use regular MPS bus transportation are encouraged to download the app and enable notifications.

For information about downloading and using the app, including setup guides in Spanish, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, and Vietnamese, please visit the MPS Transportation Page.

Last year, Methuen Public Schools successfully reopened all of our grammar school libraries—and it would not have been possible without the support of our wonderful volunteers! In fact, more than 20,000 books were checked out by students during the 2025–2026 school year.

We are looking for volunteers to help keep our libraries welcoming, organized, and accessible to students. There are several volunteer roles available, including helping students check out books, shelving, supporting classes, and more. Training is provided!

Interested in volunteering at Tenney? Please reach out—we’d love to have you join us!

Well, it only took me a few months, but we finally have a message on our sign at the entrance to Tenney! Better late than never, right?

But in all seriousness, I couldn't be happier with the message now greeting everyone who comes through our doors: “Welcome to Tenney. You Belong Here.”

This simple message means so much. I want every student, every family member, and every staff member who walks through our doors to know that they are valued, welcomed, and an important part of our community. Belonging isn't just something we say; it's something we build every day through the way we treat one another, the relationships we nurture, and the care we show each other.

So, the next time you pass our sign, I hope you'll smile—and remember that at Tenney, you belong here. 💙🐯
