The Signal

Our alumni continue to do incredible things, and we would love to celebrate those accomplishments in the Spring Edition of The Signal! If you or a fellow alumnus have reached a milestone or achieved something noteworthy, please consider sharing it with us.

Achievements might include college graduations or honors, athletic accomplishments, career milestones or promotions, service projects, mission work, artistic performances, marriage, the birth of a child, publications, awards, or other meaningful personal or professional successes.

Your stories inspire and help strengthen the connection between past, present, and future members of our school community. Submissions are welcome now and will be considered for inclusion in the Spring Edition of The Signal.

Congratulations to Emily Willett and Brady McKelvey, class of 2023, on their engagement!

Blake (2011) and Dani (Salenbien) Hohlbein (2020) welcomed sweet Baby Theodore in September of 2025.

Congratulations to Tyler Salenbien (2024) and Zoey Breznik (2023) on their engagement!

The National Day of Prayer is a meaningful opportunity for our school community to come together in faith and unity. Each year, we set aside this time to seek God’s guidance, give thanks for His provision, and lift up our students, staff, families, and community in prayer.

This special gathering reflects the heart of our mission: encouraging lives rooted in Christ and committed to making a lasting impact. Alumni are an important part of that legacy, and we are grateful for the continued prayers and support of those who have been shaped by our school over the years.

We warmly invite you to join us in person:

May 7, 2026 | 7:00-8:30 am
Merillat Room at The Centre

We are honored to welcome Dr. Robert Pepper as keynote speaker, with Pastor Matt Vandersteen leading a time of prayer.

This complimentary event is made possible by Lenawee Christian Ministries. Space is limited, so please RSVP by May 4 using the link below.

You once walked these halls, now you have the opportunity to help another student do the same.

Through our Connect a Cougar opportunity, alumni can play a direct role in making a Christ-centered LCS education possible for the next generation. Right now, there are students and families prayerfully seeking financial support so they can move forward with confidence for the 2026-2027 school year. Your investment can be the difference in their story.

A commitment of $5,000 fully sponsors one student, or you can partner with another donor at $2,500 to share that impact. Beyond the financial gift, this program is uniquely relational. As part of your commitment, I would be honored to personally introduce you to a student within the Connect a Cougar program, giving you the opportunity to encourage, pray for, and follow their journey throughout the year.

This is more than a gift, it’s a chance to carry forward the same mission that helped shape you.

If you feel led to be part of this, I invite you to:

• Click the link below to give, or
• Reach out to me directly at mblack@lenawee.org to learn more or be connected with a student.

If Connect a Cougar isn’t the right fit, we gratefully welcome gifts of any size to our scholarship fund, where each dollar is prayerfully and thoughtfully distributed to families in need.

Thank you for continuing to invest in what God is doing through LCS, past, present, and future.

With gratitude,

Mekeisha Black

Director of Advancement & Enrollment

It was a joy to come together in worship during this year’s auction, Called by Name. What a meaningful reminder of the unity we share and the faith that binds our community. Seeing alumni, families, and friends gathered with a shared purpose made the evening especially impactful.

We are also grateful to share that, through your generosity, scholarship donations reached an all time high of over $100,000. This incredible milestone will open doors for students and families, making a lasting difference in the lives of many.

Thank you for being such an important part of this community and for continuing to invest in its mission.

As we look ahead to celebrating 50 years of LCS at Homecoming 2026, we would love your help in bringing our history to life! These pieces help tell the story of God’s faithfulness through generations of students and families.

If you’re willing to contribute or have something we could feature, please reach out to us at communications@lenawee.org. If you would be comfortable allowing your item to be displayed, we would be honored to showcase it at the Alumni Tent during the celebration. Thank you for helping us celebrate all that LCS has been, and continues to be!
