A Message from the Principal
Next week we begin CAASPP testing for all students. We will be testing Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from April 22nd - May 3rd. Our testing block will begin each morning at 8:15 am and conclude at 10:20 am, during that time we will not be able to interrupt students in their Core or Math classes or 8th-grade science if they need to be picked up. Limiting interruptions for all students will ensure a secure and structured testing environment. To support your child, please have your student charge their iPad, get a good night's sleep, and eat a healthy breakfast. Thank you for your support with CAASPP testing at Hewes.
Are you interested in supporting Hewes PTA? Consider volunteering for a few events as we close out the school year. On Thursday, May 9th attend the Staff vs Student basketball game. There will be food trucks starting at 5 pm and the game will start at 6 pm with a halftime raffle all in support of funding our many programs sponsored by PTA. Volunteers will be needed so please consider helping. Health Week sponsored by PTA is May 13 - 17 and we are in search of community members who can share their experiences and expertise with mental and physical health. There are flyers and contact information in this newsletter so please consider how you can support our school.
Please stay connected to Hewes by checking our website and following us on Instagram @heweshighlanders for the latest information and news.

Twenty Percent Project Presentations
Come to Hewes on Wednesday, May 15th, 6-7 pm, to hear about the students' passion projects that they have spent the last eight weeks working on. There is such a variety of topics (soccer juggling, learning languages, writing a novella, crocheting, and coding...just to list a few) and we would love for you to join us.
