The Weekly Highlander 2025-2026

Dear Highlander Families:

Please plan on attending our monthly PTA meeting on Tuesday at 8am in person in room I-8 or virtually on Zoom. The Zoom link and login information is included in this newsletter. Girls volleyball was rained out this week and will be tentatively rescheduled for next Thursday, January 29th at Hewes. Our library will be closed next Friday, January 27th after school so please plan accordingly. You will be seeing a new face on campus, our new School Resource Officer (SRO), Deputy Phabmixay. If you see him out and about, please say hello and introduce yourself.

This week we announced our Hewes Teacher of Year, Mr.Visser. Some of you might know him as Coach Visser as he is our athletic director in addition to his regular teaching responsibilities. He does so many things to support our campus and are excited to celebrate with him at the Teacher of the Year Celebration in May. When you see him on campus please give him a HUGE Congratulations!

DEPUTY VASQUEZ - Thank you for ALL of your service and support to the students, staff, and families at Hewes Middle School. You are kind and supportive, and you keep our campus safe. You are always a phone call away, and no problem is ever too big or small for you to handle. You will be missed, but know you will always be a HIGHLANDER!!!

Highlander for a Day is a recognition program at Hewes Middle School that celebrates students for incredible moments of Winning the Day the Highlander Way. Students are recognized for working hard, including others, never giving up, controlling their responses, choosing to act above the line, and taking extreme ownership of their 20 square feet. These are the habits and mindsets that shape our Highlander culture, and we are so proud to share them with our entire school community.
