A Message from Dr. Toni Hicks A Message from Dr. Toni Hicks

Hello Cougars!

The last weeks of school are busy with student celebrations. Many families are marking important milestones, and we share in your pride and joy! Please join me in congratulating and celebrating all of our students for all of their accomplishments throughout the 2020-21 school year.

To further highlight our seniors, Jarrell High School has launched their Class of 2021 website.

And speaking of success, on Monday, May 3 at 1 p.m. we will have another celebratory parade to honor our four track athletes who are headed for state, as well as our FCCLA and Ag students who have represented Jarrell at the state level. Please join us at the Administration Building (108 E. Avenue F) to cheer on our students!

We continue to be inspired by our students as they reach great heights of success.

We also celebrate our teachers. This coming week is Teacher Appreciation Week, and we are grateful for our hardworking and dedicated staff who work tirelessly to support our students. Their courage and grit has successfully led Jarrell ISD through a worldwide pandemic. Please take a moment next week to share your appreciation, whether it be a note, a kind word or a phone call.

Teachers, you are the heartbeat of our district. Thank you.

With our staff and students in mind, our administrative team is collaborating with principals to thoughtfully plan for next year. Our focus is to ensure our students and staff have the resources they need to be successful. We will share more information about those plans in the weeks to come.

As we finish this year out strong, remember that your involvement in the educational process continues to be critically important. There is no doubt that our schools are stronger because of you.

With that note, I send my sincere appreciation to the staff, parents and community members who took the time to vote early in the election. The outcome of the 2021 Jarrell ISD Bond proposals are very important to the future of Jarrell ISD. If you have not voted yet, please take time to vote Saturday, May 1. Polls are open 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Go Cougars!

News and Information News and Information

Ronald Reagan Blvd. Bridge Closure

Beginning on Monday, May 3 at 8 a.m., the existing Ronald Reagan Boulevard bridge at I-35 in Williamson County will be closed to traffic, weather permitting. This closure will allow crews to complete the paving of the northbound and southbound I-35 frontage roads, and prepare the bridge for demolition and ultimate reconstruction.

To accommodate this work, northbound I-35 traffic wishing to go westbound on Ronald Reagan Boulevard will detour to the frontage road via exit (#274) and U-turn at the Bud Stockton Loop intersection to head southbound to Ronald Reagan Boulevard. Southbound I-35 traffic wishing to access CR 311 will use exit (#270) and U-turn at the CR 143 intersection and head northbound to CR 311. (See attached detour map.) Road signs have been placed to alert drivers of the upcoming closures.

The closure and detour will remain in place until June, when the newly constructed eastbound bridge will open to two-way traffic while the westbound bridge is under construction.

The I-35 at Ronald Reagan Boulevard project includes replacing the existing two-way Ronald Reagan Boulevard bridge with new eastbound and westbound bridges. The project will also realign Ronald Reagan Boulevard and CR 311 to connect to the new bridges. Both bridges will accommodate one travel lane, a bike lane and 6-foot sidewalk. This $12.3 million project is anticipated to be complete in late 2021.
