Summer MoDOT Youth Transportation Conference

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) sponsors an annual Youth Transportation Conference which will be held this summer from July 6 - July 10 in Jefferson City, Missouri ; up to 40 students grades 9 - 12 will be selected from across the state to attend. The conference is free, with participants staying overnight on the campus of Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. This is a competitive program that offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn about the field of transportation at a collegiate and professional level.

The conference is packed with fun and exciting academic, career development, and social activities, and exposes students across Missouri to numerous career opportunities in transportation and engineering. Students apply STEM-related concepts learned in school to transportation-related problems. The academic curriculum includes sessions on math modeling, applied physics, magnetic levitation, public administration, and safety. Other activities include field trips, office/site tours, and speakers from various divisions within MoDOT and related organizations. Those potentially interested in civil engineering or urban design & planning might be especially interested in applying!

Interested students must complete an application accompanied by up to two letters of recommendation. The application deadline is April 24. Students who intend to apply should register their interest on GivePulse, then follow the link within to complete the MODOT application form. Students can stop by the Chelsea Center at any time to receive assistance with the application process. Further information is available on MoDOT’s youth conference website.
