A-C Elementary PTO Update
The Annville-Cleona Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) would like to welcome their new president, Kristin Carpenter! Many thanks to the previous president, Becca Lebo, for her years of service and positive impact on our students and schools. In addition to Kristin, the Annville-Cleona PTO is led by Janelle Scerbo, Vice President, and Kristen Strauss, Secretary.
The Annville-Cleona Elementary PTO strives to support teachers, staff, and students through enrichment opportunities and funding. The PTO currently has open Board and Committee Chair positions. If you're interested in these positions or volunteering with the Annville-Cleona PTO, please contact annvillepto@gmail.com.
Our next PTO Meeting will be held at Cleona Elementary School on Thursday, March 6th at 5pm. This is also when the Cleona Coffee Roasters Fundraiser can be picked up. Feel free to share the fundraiser page and/or place orders using the link above. The coffee is delicious and we have our own Dutchmen Blend!
We look forward to working with you to benefit A-C's students!
A-C Youth Soccer Club
The Annville-Cleona Youth Soccer Club soccer registration is open for the Spring 2025 season. The club accepts registrations for players age 4 as of March 31, 2025 through U18 (birth year 2007). The AC Youth Soccer Club plays recreational soccer in the Lebanon Valley Youth Soccer League for children in the U10-U18 age groups. An in-house intramural program for our U5-U6 (Micros) is offered and a hybrid intramural program is offered for U8s that play some local clubs midway through the season. Student Spotlight
Annville-Cleona High School Students acted as mentors this week to these young readers. Throughout the year, they will work together to build connections in our school community and develop an understanding of the importance of reading.
Fourth and Fifth Grade Students in Mr. Hitz's Class created K'Nex prototypes to enter into IU13's "K'Nex STEM Design Challenge." The prototypes built are expected to address a real-world problem related to infrastructure, transportation, and urban development. Competing projects will be judged on their notebook design, blueprint, prototype (built on-site from scratch), and presentation. The winning team will go on to compete at the state level!
The AETV studio continues to grow. Each day, participating students provide live and recorded announcements. The crew also provides special newscasts a few times a month. This week, they interviewed Dr. Antonis so that our school community could get to know her better! If you're interested in checking out any of their broadcasts, you can find them on AE's webpage, linked here.
Last week, Elementary Families enjoyed the second annual A-C Reads Movie Night! Families enjoyed snacks provided by the PTO and a special showing of Disney's "The Incredibles." Thanks to Mrs. Davis for providing this experience!
Sixth-grade students enjoyed a visit from local therapy dog, Jack! What an incredible way to start the day!
Students in Mr. Hitz's Class are participating in a service learning project. They are collaborating on organizing a district-wide toy drive to benefit Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. The drive will begin on February 14th and run through the 21st. Be on the lookout for more information next week!
Sixth-grade students are learning about the economy in their social studies classes with Mrs. Wasilewski. This week, they applied their learning during a circular economy game.
Our staff enjoyed Cookies and Caldecotts this week! This was an opportunity to enjoy a sweet treat and preview recent Caldecott Award-winning books. These texts will also be available to our students in the library to check out and bring home!
