Did you Know? Did you Know?

An infographic from El Dorado Public Schools titled “Did You Know? School Budgets and Their Impact – Making Tax Dollars Work for Kansas Students.” It presents key facts about school funding for USD 490 in 2024–2025: Total revenue is $31.8 million, with 8% from federal, 62.7% from state, and 29.3% from local sources. Property taxes play a major role; a $150,000 home generates $2,025 in school property taxes. The total mill levy is 63.212 mills and has decreased yearly for six years. Employee salaries total $15.992 million, more than the general fund of $15.617 million. Funding is organized into four key funds: General Fund, Local Option Budget (LOB), Capital Outlay, and Bond & Interest. Each fund supports different needs: salaries, bond payments, federal programs (e.g., special education, food service), and facility/technology upgrades. At the bottom are hashtags #PartOfThePride and #DYKKansasKids, and the website www.usd490.org.
