Week of 5/4/25
Principal's Greeting
Dear Churchill Families,
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! This is a wonderful opportunity to recognize the incredible dedication of our teachers. We encourage you to send a quick note or email of appreciation to your child’s teachers—they’ll truly value your kind words!
Last week, we also kicked off Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Ask your student about some of the remarkable individuals we spotlighted—they’ve been learning about inspiring stories and contributions from AAPI Americans.
Just a quick reminder: STAR Testing will take place this week on Tuesday, May 6th and Thursday,
May 8th. Please ensure your student gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast to start the day off right.
Lastly, please take a moment to read the important information below about upcoming events.
Wishing you a fantastic week ahead!
Warmly,
Mrs. Peacock

A Note From our School Nurse
The first confirmed case of measles in 2025 in Illinois has been reported, and there have been over 800 cases reported over 20 states. The best way to protect against measles is to complete the MMR 2-vaccine series. Please reach out to the nurse at your student’s school or your trusted healthcare provider for additional information. Additional resources can also be found at this link: Questions About Measles | Measles (Rubeola) | CDC
As is the case with all vaccine preventable disease, unvaccinated individuals will need to be excluded from school if there were an outbreak in our schools to protect them and the community from further spread.

5th Grade Parent Letter
Dear Fifth Grade Families,
We are thrilled to announce an exciting event for our fifth graders as the school year draws to a close! On Tuesday June 3rd, we will be hosting an end-of-year celebration for our fifth graders to celebrate the achievements and growth of our students throughout their time at Churchill School.
To ensure that all students have the opportunity to attend and enjoy this special occasion, invitations will be based on student referral data. Students will earn points through positive referrals, demonstrating their commitment to showing Bulldog Best Behavior and contributing positively to our school community. Points will be deducted for office and classroom referrals that reflect behaviors that do not align with our school’s expectations. All students will start Monday, March 24th with 100 points. Positive referrals will earn students an additional 25 points while referrals that are earned due to physical altercation will deduct 30 points. Additionally, all other office (major) referrals will deduct 25 points and classroom (minor) referrals will deduct 10 points. To earn an invitation to the dance, students will need a total of 75 points.
Throughout the coming weeks, classroom teachers will maintain open communication with families regarding student’s behavior and progress toward earning their invitation to the dance. We encourage you to partner with us in motivating your child to exhibit their Bulldog Best Behavior in and out of the classroom. Together, we can create a supportive environment where every student feels empowered to succeed. We understand the importance of celebrating milestones and creating lasting memories for our students, and we are committed to ensuring that the end-of-the- year celebration is a safe, enjoyable, and inclusive event for all fifth graders.
Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation. If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Let’s make this end-of-school dance a memorable experience for our fifth graders!
