FMS Weekly Update 2.9.25
February 9, 2025
Week of February 9, 2025
From the Desk of Our Proud Principal
Good evening, Trojan Families!
This is a message from your proud principal, Mrs. Kinard, and the school leaders at Ferndale Middle School. We strongly encourage you to access the digital version of this announcement, available on our school website and social media. It contains additional important information that you and your students need to know.
Good Evening Trojan Families,
We hope you are doing well! As we move through February, we are excited to celebrate Black History Month with activities and learning experiences that honor the rich history, culture, and achievements of African Americans. Our students will have the opportunity to engage in discussions, projects, and events that highlight the contributions of Black leaders, past and present.
In academic news, we are thrilled to share our students' progress! Our math classes performed above the district average on all interim assessments, demonstrating our students' hard work and our teachers' dedication. In English Language Arts (ELA), our classes are within just a few points of the district average for most grade levels, showing strong growth and continued improvement. Additionally, our students made gains in their NWEA scores for ELA, and while we saw a slight decrease of one point in math, we remain focused on continued growth and success.
We are so proud of our Trojans for their commitment to learning, and we appreciate the support from our families in helping our students reach their full potential. Thank you for being a partner in their education.
As always, if you have any questions or need support, please don't hesitate to reach out. Let’s keep soaring, Trojans!
GCS Immigration Response
Every family should know that every child in Guilford County has the Constitutional right to attend school regardless of immigration status. The Guilford County Schools does not request or record information about a student’s immigration status. Federal and state laws protect student information from disclosure to others, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). GCS does not permit non-students, including ICE agents, access to GCS facilities unless they can produce a warrant signed by a federal judge. School administrators will not permit the disclosure of confidential student information without first consulting their attorney to make sure that the information has been properly subject to a federal judge’s warrant.
Families should consult community resources to learn their rights and additional information will be provided to help families access these resources.
