Million Minute Challenge!
Hello McAuliffe Families,
I am excited to announce our Million Minute Challenge is launching today! Students will learn about it at school today but I also wanted you all to have the information as well as you will be important teammates in this challenge! You can find all the information that you need below in our one-pager along with a quick tutorial on how to use Beanstack. Happy reading!
Sincerely,
Mr. Hanley
McAuliffe’s Million Minute Reading Challenge!
At McAuliffe, we believe that every minute spent reading builds confidence, curiosity, and future success. This year, we’re launching a schoolwide reading initiative to promote the joy of reading and help students track their progress — all through a fun and interactive platform called Beanstack.
What is Beanstack?
Beanstack is a digital reading platform used by many schools/libraries — including Tinley Park Public Library — to log reading minutes, celebrate progress, and run fun competitions.
Students and teachers log in through Clever
Logging is easy: scan a book’s barcode and start the timer
Students can log reading done both at school and at home
Parents can link accounts with the Tinley Park Public Library
Our Goal: One Million Minutes
We’re challenging McAuliffe students to read and log a total of 1,000,000 minutes this school year!
It only takes 10 minutes per student per day to hit the goal
A live progress bar in Beanstack shows how far we’ve come
Every 50 minutes read is good for a raffle ticket. End of the year raffle winners will be pulled to pour beans on Mr. Hanley
Weekly & Monthly Competitions
Top Bean – Weekly Class Trophy
Awarded to the class with the most minutes read each week, the class keeps the Top Bean Trophy
Winners announced on the Challenger Channel each Monday
Benny’s Best – Monthly Individual Prizes
One top reader per grade level wins a monthly prize

No pressure, all progress — rewards are fun and encourage continued reading
