SOLs Begin Next Week
Each day will begin with a reduced Advisory block (8th pd) to allow students to get settled, ask questions, housekeeping items, etc...
Following Advisory, students will transition to the next block which will be the main SOL Testing Period assigned for that day. This will be an extended block. Any student that is required to take an SOL for the class during that period will be scheduled to test.
Ex: A student in Mr. Smith's 1st block class will take SOL test on April 24th - refer to schedule.
SOL General Test Prep
Here are some helpful tips for preparing for the Standards of Learning (SOL) tests in high school:
Adequate Preparation: Allocate sufficient time to study and utilize available resources such as practice tests and study guides. Consistent and focused preparation is key.
Regular Review: Regularly review essential concepts, vocabulary, and formulas. Repetition helps solidify understanding and retention.
Collaborative Learning: Form study groups with classmates to discuss topics, solve problems, and reinforce understanding. Collaborating with peers can enhance learning.
Effective Communication: Engage with teachers and classmates. Don’t hesitate to ask questions when concepts are unclear. Effective communication aids in clarifying doubts.
Self-Discipline: Avoid procrastination by breaking tasks into manageable chunks. Adhere to study schedules and deadlines.
Check Your Answers: When taking practice tests or reviewing questions, eliminate answer choices you know are correct. Make thoughtful guesses if needed.
Read Carefully: Understand what each question is asking. Read the entire question and all answer choices before selecting an answer.
Sleep 8 Hours Now: Our brains work most efficiently when we have enough sleep. Sleep time is also when our brains let the learning sink in, so sleep is not time wasted. It is essential to learning!
Remember that consistent effort, a positive mindset, and strategic study habits contribute to success on the SOL tests. Best of luck!
Flex Schedule for Next Week
FLEX periods take a hiatus during SOL testing, and will return once SOL testing is complete.

How Can You Help?
- Sponsor a Teacher: For only $15, you can sponsor a teacher or multiple teachers. Your contribution will make a meaningful impact.
- Spread the Word: Encourage other parents and families to participate. Please do what you can and share this opportunity with your friends and neighbors.
How to Sponsor a Teacher:
Visit our PTO website.
Click on the ADD TO BAG.
- Follow the simple instructions to make your contribution.
Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the HEART! Let’s come together as a community to express our gratitude and support for our incredible teachers.
