Principals' greeting Principals' greeting

Dear Pleasant Valley Families,

We are super excited that the warm weather is fully starting to settle in for Spring. Please make sure that your students are coming to school with water or a water bottle, sunscreen if needed and possibly a light layer for the cooler mornings. In addition, please make sure that your students are dressed appropriately for middle school.

Next week we are starting our SBAC testing window for state assessments on Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure that your student is getting plenty of sleep the night before and that they come to school with a fully charged Chromebook (6th-8th grades). One goal we have at PVM this year is to make sure we are creating a positive testing environment and culture for our students. The SBAC testing is a great opportunity for our students to show off their learning for the year. Any positive comments and support you can provide your student is a great asset for our building. Simply telling your child good luck and you’ve got this, can go a long way. Thank you in advance for the help and support for testing.

Finally, we wanted to recognize some of the setbacks that the failed levy will bring next year. At this point we do not fully know the impacts of this on our staffing, budget and plans. We do know that at this point there will be lots of changes, including no current plans to have sports at the middle school level. We know this is a devastating loss for our students. At Pleasant Valley we have always viewed athletics as an extension of our classroom and an opportunity to connect students with school. We will continue to do our best to provide opportunities for our students to build relationships via athletics and after school activities to the greatest extent possible.

We will continue to work and update our families as we know more about this situation. Our teachers and staff are here to make sure we provide the best possible holistic education for each and every student that comes through our doors. Thank you for your continued support and partnership at Pleasant Valley.

Have a great week-

Greetings from Pleasant Valley Nursing Team.

Please make arrangements to pick up any medications your child may have left over at school after the final day of student attendance.

Medication can be picked up by an adult through the health room during normal school business hours by June18th, 2025. Any leftover medications still in the health room at the end of the school year will be stored in a locked cabinet until 3pm on June 26, 2025. Medications that remain at school after that time shall be destroyed.

End of the year paperwork (medication at school, emergency action plan, asthma questionnaire, and life threatening health condition forms), to include paperwork to be signed/completed for the following school year 2025-26, was e-mailed to parents/guardians May 13, 2025. All paperwork is to be updated every school year. Instructions were provided in the email. If you need a hard copy of any forms, please contact your school's nurse's office. (PVM call 360-885-5500)

Thank you for allowing us to meet your child's health care needs while at Pleasant Valley Middle School!

Annual Update of forms in Family Access

Please be sure to complete the 2025/26 Annual Update in your Family Access account when it becomes available in August. This is how contact info, health info, emergency contacts etc are updated each year. Health information in the computer this year WILL NOT pull through to next year; health information must be re-entered EVERY year, or there will not be a record of your student's medical information in our system.

Life threatening health condition/allergy

If your student has a life threatening medical condition/allergy, we must have updated health information each year as well as medication at school forms for any rescue medications that need to be kept at the nurse's office at school. Parents and nurses work together to create an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) for what to do for your child in the case of a medical emergency. Please contact our nurses if your student has a life threatening medical condition/allergy and you have not already alerted the school and had an EAP created. Students and parents will need to meet with nurses before a student may self-carry any rescue medications.

Updating contact and health information

Parents/guardians please make sure you are updating the School Health Form in Skyward each year so that we have correct and current information regarding your child/ren (complete the "Update" in Skyward Family Access. Update opens August 1st each year to update school forms.). Skyward does not pull information forward each school year. There are many School Health Forms that have not been updated for 2-4 years. We need current information and this is how we most often know if your child has a Life threatening health condition. We want to keep your child/ren safe while at school and we can't do our job if we do not have correct and updated information.

Thank you for your time in this important matter.

From your School Nurse Janel Salisbury, BSN, RN & Building Nurse Diane Davis, LPN

Report, don’t repost

If you see or hear of a possible threat, please report it to law enforcement directly and/or to school staff. This is the best and most helpful action because it begins an investigation and helps to limit the potential for misinformation to spread.

Reposting or sharing a threat on social media in an attempt to warn others spreads the threat farther from its original source and may cause unnecessary alarm and fear.

Meal information Meal information

Starting this year, Battle Ground Public Schools will be partnering with Chartwells to provide meals at school. Menus will continue to be available via Nutrislice, with payments handled through InTouch Receipting. You will be able to see and pay all charges in one place. Use your Skyward / FamilyID information to log in. See meal prices for 2024-25.

All students in the district’s seven primary schools (kindergarten through fourth grade) will receive breakfast and lunch at no cost to them. All students at CAM Academy will also receive free meals. Students at other schools may qualify to receive meals at no cost for families. Please check the family income requirements and fill out an application during the annual student update process or via the district website. Please note that even if your child has qualified for free meals in the past, you will still need to reapply.

Consent to share

Students wishing to take advantage of no-fee sports or other activities must have a new meal benefit application and consent to share form (русский) (Español) on file before registering for fall sports, even if you had a previous approved application on file. The consent to share can also be completed as part of the annual student update through Skyward.
