In addition to another great week of school, last week's Dine & Share event, hosted by our amazing PTC, was a huge success! The Kona Ice truck was a big hit on Wednesday, with a long line of excited students and families. The weather couldn't have been better, making it the perfect day for a cool treat. Thank you to the PTC for their time and effort to plan the event and to everyone who came out to support. The event was a success because of you! 🎉👏
September Goal: Kindness
At Forest, we utilize the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) framework to set, teach, model, practice, and reinforce expected behaviors at school. During the first few weeks of school, students are introduced to the school-wide expectations and have many opportunities to practice meeting expectations. Students and staff look for opportunities to positively recognize when students are meeting expectations and may give them a FFF (Fine Feathered Friend) ticket. After the initial weeks of the school year, we will typically have a specific monthly goal for teachers and students to be working on together to continue building our school community.
Kindness is the goal for the rest of September (9th-30th)! This can be saying kind words, including others, helping others, using manners, listening, apologizing, smiling, etc. Overall, all things KIND! Teachers will hand out individual FFF (Fine Feathered Friends) tickets to students being kind. The school-wide goal is to get 5,000 Fine Feathered Friends by September 30! If we are able to meet our goal, students we will have a celebration with their buddy classroom.
Our first PTC meeting is this Tuesday, September 10th at 7pm at Forest School. All Forest caregivers are invited. Babysitting is provided for children 3 years and up. Hope to see you there!
The Scholastic Book Fair is September 17th-19th! Students will shop with their classrooms during the school day. Don't want to send cash with your student? You can load an ewallet here.
Friends of Forest Parents' Night Out is September 20th at Club Casa in Des Plaines! Book a sitter and come meet other Forest families and relax! See the flyer or our website for details.

Free & Reduced Lunch Applications
- If interested, there is an application in Infinite Campus' Parent Portal to apply for free and reduced lunch. The application must be submitted within 30 days of school, so if you are interested, please apply now. This must be re-submitted at the beginning of each school year.
