Volunteer Opportunity to support MHS Alumni Non-Profit
We had a wonderful turn out with your students helping on our last event. They were all so helpful even during the most chaotic moments. That is just so extremely appreciated. I hope your students can continue coming out to volunteer for our event. This one is closer to home in Pearland so I know it makes it easier for some students. I have attached some details and a flyer.

Dear Mav Nation,
We had a great 1st Full Week of School.
I love serving the Manvel community and look forward to partnering with you for the success of our students. Our number one goal at MHS is to ensure the safety of all our students and staff members. All decisions are made with safety in mind. Our second goal at MHS is to provide an academically rich environment to prepare your students for post secondary opportunities by offering a wide range of courses and extracurricular opportunities. Below are a few need to knows for families as we start a new school year.
Dress Code Reminders
All students are expected to follow the Alvin ISD Dress code. The full dress code can be found by clicking here to help you with back to school shopping. The most common dress code infractions:
- Hats
- Crop Tops/Tucking large shirts into their bra
- Slides and shoes without backs
- Tights
- Shorts and Skirts that are too short
Student IDs
All students received their IDs and are expected to wear them daily. This is for the safety of all students and staff to help us identify everyone in the building.
The smart ID has technology for bus riding tracking, can be used to checkout books from the library and can be used to purchase food from the cafeteria.
Student Support Team
All students have an alpha assistant principal, an alpha counselor and an attendance clerk based on the students last name. This team is your go to for questions about attendance, student management, academics and your student's well being. Questions about grades and classroom instruction should be directed to the classroom teacher first as they are the content expert. If you still require further assistance, your alpha assistant principal or alpha counselor is the next level of support. The contact information for all principals and counselors can be found below.
Electronic Device Policy
House Bill 1481, was passed by the Texas Legislature last school year. This law requires all school boards to adopt a policy that limits student use of personal communication devices such as cell phones and smartwatches while on school property during the school day. The purpose of this legislation is to help minimize distractions and enhance student learning. It also mandates that school districts implement disciplinary measures for students who violate the policy. Click here for the full HB 1481 Policy

PLEASE NOTE: If applicable, it is important to apply for Free & Reduced-Priced Meals every year so you do not lose access to benefits and so your child’s campus does not lose critical services that are based on meal applications. Applications may be submitted any time online by visiting www.schoolcafe.com.
Breakfast $2.00 • Lunch (Elementary) $2.75 • Lunch (Secondary) $3.25. Please click on this link for detailed price and menu information. Adult meal prices are to be determined.
How do students pay for meals?
All students access their individual cafeteria account at cafeteria registers using their individual six digit student ID number. The six digit ID number is the same ID number issued to the student when they are enrolled. This ID number does not change, is confidential, and should not be shared. Cafeteria accounts may be funded using cash or checks at the cafeteria registers or online with a credit card by visiting www.schoolcafe.com. Cafeteria accounts may also be monitored and managed online using www.schoolcafe.com.
How do I apply for Free & Reduced-Price Meals?
To qualify for the free & reduced-price meal benefits, a student’s parent or guardian must fill out an online application. Applications may be submitted any time online by visiting www.schoolcafe.com. A new application must be filled out at the beginning of each new school year. All members of the household should be included on one form. Only one form per household is required. Applications may be submitted any time during the school year.
For additional questions or concerns, contact the Child Nutrition Department at 281-245-2277 or visit the Child Nutrition Department website through this link.
Alvin ISD uses the Stopfinder app for students who utilize Alvin ISD transportation to and from school. The app allows parents and guardians to track their child’s school bus in real-time.
The app is secured and protected and also serves as a two-way communication tool, allowing parents to quickly and easily communicate with district transportation officials and receive real-time notifications. Notifications can be focused on specific users based on their child’s bus route. For example, if a road is closed, causing a bus to be late picking up or dropping off children, only parents and guardians of students on those specific routes will be notified.
The app can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play Store.
For more information on how Stopfinder works, take a look at this brief 30-second informational video. More information on Stopfinder is also available on their website.
If you are a new bus rider or have a change of address and qualify for bus service, please complete the online Alvin ISD student enrollment or registration process and present the completed verification of enrollment, along with the associated residency documents, to your child’s campus. Parents must verbally ask the campus registrar to input a request for transportation for their student. Once the verification has been completed, the registrar will assist with ensuring your child is registered for bus transportation.
If your child will be a bus rider, you will receive the route information and approximate pick-up times through the Stopfinder app. If you do not have the Stopfinder app, an invite will be sent out in July. Please verify that your correct email is listed in Skyward in order to receive the invite.
If you have any questions, please call 281-245-3101.

Is your student on track to earn a CCMR Point?
As we look ahead to a successful 2025-26 school year, we want to make you aware of a new state law, House Bill 1481, which was passed by the Texas Legislature. House Bill 1481 prohibits students from using personal communication devices during the school day.
This law applies to:
- Cell phones
- Smartwatches
- Earbuds and headphones
- Tablets or any device that can text, call, record, or access the internet
In Alvin ISD, the expectation is simple: Not Seen. Not Heard. Not Taken.
Students may bring phones and personal electronic devices to school.
However, from the moment students enter the building in the morning until the final dismissal bell cell phones must be powered off or silenced, stored in a backpack or locker, and not used during class, passing periods, lunch, or restroom breaks.
Use in the Hallways
The use of personal communication devices in prohibited at all times.
Use at Lunch
Lunch is considered part of the school day so the use of electronic devices is prohibited under Texas Law.
Emergency Situations
Administrators may approve the use of cell phones in emergency situations where the device is necessary for the health or safety of students or others.
The Texas law requires school districts to administer disciplinary consequences if students violate the personal communication device policy in schools. Each infraction of this policy will result in the following escalating consequences:
- First offense – Device taken, returned to student
- Second – Parent must pick up
- Third – $15 fine + parent pickup
Refusal to hand over a device = disciplinary action per the Student Code of Conduct
Why this matters:
This law supports focused classrooms, respectful spaces, and safe learning for all.
Parents:
Please talk with your child about expectations before school starts. For emergencies, contact the campus office.
