Message from the Principal
We are all looking forward to starting the school year. We have rested, learned, enjoyed our loved ones and now we are ready to help our students learn. Right now we are working on supporting all of the parents who need to do the Online Verification. If you have not done that yet, there is still time. Please call our school.
Sneak a Peek and Back to School Night
We are asking that only one adult companies the child during these activities. We are trying to allow for more social distancing to increase the safety of our teachers and our students. We strongly encourage you to wear a mask when attending Sneak a Peek. We are also asking for parents to select a time to visit on Sneak a Peek and Back to School Night. The link to My Conference Time is below.
For your convenience, we have posted classroom lists on the library windows. This is just in case you do not have access to the internet or Infinite Campus. Please visit the school to find out sooner than Back to School Night and Sneak a Peek.
Mitigation Strategies
As we keep fighting COVID-19, parents will be allowed to drop off the children or walk them up to the front doors. We are not ready to open the doors to parents or other community members.
We will continue to have hand sanitizer, disinfectant spray, water bottles, and some masks. The high touch areas will be sanitized ofter throughout the day. We will continue to have a Caring Room where children who exhibit COVID-like symptoms will be cared for until the next step is determined.
Attendance
We would like all of the children to attend school as regularly as possible. We understand that when a child is not feeling well because they have a fever, digestive issues, etc. they must stay home. It is only by attending school, that they will be able to have access to the learning that takes place every day at school.
Masks
Although we all wished that we would start the year on a more positive note regarding COVID-19 that is not our reality. All of the adults at school have had the choice to get the vaccine. We recognize that elementary children do not have this choice yet. In order to protect them from this virus, we are recommending that children and unvaccinated adults wear a mask. If you wish for your child/ren to wear a mask, please send one from home. That way the children are wearing the protection that seems appropriate for your child.

Communication and Preparedness
Student and staff safety is of paramount importance in the Sioux City Community School District. For this reason, the District exercises a host of crisis prevention and planning tactics. Should an emergency occur, the school notifies you through our Blackboard phone system. In an emergency, the system calls every phone number associated with your child in order to reach you. The message will give you details about the emergency and provide directions on when/where to pick up your child if the normal school day is altered. Learn more about school safety.
