The End of the Year Draws Nearer
May 22, 2025
Franklin Has Talent!
On Friday, May 30th, beginning at 1:30 PM in the Franklin Auditorium, that talent will be on full display!
Every 2-3 years we like to provide an opportunity for Franklin students to show off their talents to a larger audience. Our amazing counselor, Mrs. Berg, has once again organized an impressive group of talented performers to headline "The Big Show". Students were required to audition in order to determine if they were ready for the stage, and they have been practicing ever since then to hone their skills. For more information regarding this event, check out the poster below.
We Need Your Feedback
Dear Families,
Our district values your feedback! We are surveying MAPS families during the month of May in order to gain insight into your perception of our school and district effectiveness. To ensure we continue to provide high quality, rigorous learning experiences that meet the needs of our learners and prepare them for college and career, we need your feedback. We want to know what you think.
To administer these surveys, we have partnered with Panorama Education to conduct our 2024-2025 Family Survey. Panorama safeguards your privacy, keeping your responses confidential.
The survey shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to complete, and will be a valuable source of information for us as we work to make our schools and district as good as they can be.
You may complete the survey online, but the deadline for completion is May 28, 2025. Using a computer, tablet, or smartphone, visit the website: https://surveys.panoramaed.com/mankato/login and enter our school’s access code displayed below.
- Franklin access code: 9351480903
We thank you in advance for your thoughtful responses. If you have any questions about the survey administration, please don’t hesitate to contact the Franklin office at 507-345-4287
Thank you!
For Students Moving on to PWMS Next Year
We’re excited to help our 5th grade students as they prepare for the transition to middle school, and we want to make sure families feel informed and supported as we end one year and plan for the start of another. Already this spring, counselors from PWMS have visited Franklin School to meet with our 5th graders, share some details about PWMS and the "middle school experience", and answer some burning questions on the minds of our kids. On June 3rd, our 5th graders will be bussed to PWMS for a portion of the school day to get a tour of the building, meet some staff members, and have more of their questions answered.
The first day of school next year, for incoming PWMS 6th graders, will be TUESDAY, August 26. On this day, 6th grade students will have the building to themselves—a great opportunity to ease into middle school life. They’ll spend the day getting comfortable with their new surroundings, practicing locker combinations, walking through their schedules, and building connections with teachers and classmates. While the optional 6th grade transition camp is no longer taking place in the middle of summer break, this first-day experience is designed to offer all students similar support in a more focused, real-time setting.
Our 7th and 8th grade students will join us starting WEDNESDAY, August 27. We’ve heard a few questions from families and elementary school staff about the transition camp, so we wanted to provide this update and will continue to communicate clearly as the first day approaches. We’re looking forward to a great start to the year for all of our students!
2025-2026 Calendar Adjustments *(Reminder)*
The information below has been shared in previous "district level" communications, but we also wanted to share it directly with our Franklin families.
The MAPS School Board adopted a revised 2025-2026 school calendar in order to provide additional time for construction projects in the summer of 2026.
Important "Items of Note" in the revised 2025-26 calendar:
We will start the school year before Labor Day. That's right. School will start in August!
Entrance Conferences for elementary students will take place on Aug. 25 & 26. The first day of class for elementary students will be Wednesday, Aug. 27.
We will have school on November 25, November 26, January 2, March 13, March 23, April 1 and April 2. (these are changes from the original calendar)
We will hold Parent-Teacher conferences during the evenings in November and March and move the ‘no school days’ associated with conference days (teacher comp days) to the end of the school year.
The last day of school at each level will now be:
- Elementary: Monday, May 18, 2026
- Middle: Wednesday, May 20, 2026
